Up in the SKYE@Pullman :: Monochrome Outfit + Leather Mules

Happy Sunday everyone,

Have you ever had the trouble of wondering what to wear when headed out for dinner? At the back of my mind, I always pre-plan my outfit in preparation for going out so that I would not need to fuss, rush and stress especially when I am running tight on timing. Of course, having advance knowledge of the venue would help for you to consider the direction of your outfit e.g lace, sexy, casual, elegant etc...

Issue is, often than not, most of the outfits I plan to wear would end up somehow not looking right for the occasion once I put it on, or there would be some " technical glitches" i.e a white jumpsuit which ended up too transparent and I really don't have an inner camisole for a white jumpsuit ( seriously how do you find a romper-style camisole with long enough leg length to run through the length of the jumpsuit pants? So here I am on Friday, heading out to a recently launched rooftop bar called SKYE @ the Pullman hotel. Unfortunately I have yet to purchase a small hand held dslr camera that could fit in my clutch and lugging a huge dslr camera would be such a bother, hence ended up with iphone pics. Hope you don't mind.

A nice entry at the lift lobby, club music playing over the central speakers and  3 lovely hostesses waiting patiently at the entrance to greet guests and escort them out to their tables.

It was a crowded evening at the bar and as I did not feel comfortable to impose and inconvenience any of their guests, hence here's a quick shot of the view at the bar, overlooking most of Causeway Bay and across the Victoria Harbour to Kowloon.

After our first drink outside with lovely crispy whitebait and nuts for bar snacks, we were escorted back into the main dining area where the ambience was quieter more elegant than chic.

Still with a great view behind us, we indulged in the fusion contemporary fine dining food. A little over priced for the portions served, and although the rooftop bar was certainly a place we would return again, I will be honest to say that I am not too sure about the restaurant. Somehow the evening left me a little disappointed in terms of flavour and portioning as far as food is concern. As with most things, less is more and sometimes too many over powering flavours just clash and don't work well for the dish. However the bar as a venue I would most certainly highly recommend.

So back to the outfit for the evening. I finally decided ( after 5 changes of outfits) to pull together old favourites once again to get through the evening. Paired this lovely off shoulder white top with a very old ZARA stretchy pants. You can check out my other post featuring this top here.

This long neck tie accessory is actually a belt from the white jumpsuit which I had to give up trying to style for the evening. Kept the whole look on the monochromatic colour tone and since it was a " Chanel" night so to speak, paired Chanel accessories to complete the look. Check out my other post pairing Chanel accessories here.

Loving the backdrop of suitcases behind the Concierge desk of the Pullman Hotel, I had to take a couple of shots in this location. ( psst... can you spot the Concierge Porters in the picture? Cool uniform don't you think)

My favourite BCBG Maxazria Plisse Watch still rules the day. Given it's a discontinued style, I am certainly holding on to this beauty - hopefully it'll be a vintage watch or collector's item someday.

For a slight pop of colour to the outfit, pulled out my Zara leather mules in mauve hue to pair with the look.

I hope you enjoyed this look and don't forget to click on the links below for my tips on getting the look for less and other more affordable options to style this look !!

Leather Me Up :: Leather Jacket & Skirt with Stripe Turtleneck

Hi everyone.

Being just about a week away from Christmas, my schedule has just gotten sooo busy with last minute shopping, school plays to attend, class parties to prepare food for etc... Not to mention, trying to keep warm whilst the weather gets cooler.

I have always felt that a Leather Biker/Motorcycle Jacket as some would call them, is a basic essential item one should have in the wardrobe for the winter season. A classic piece to own, I love trending this jacket ( and I am sure you will see a couple of outfit posts with this jacket during the winter season) for it's versatility, comfort and style.

If you haven't noticed, I do love same colour combinations of classic pieces for the different seasons in my fav Black and Stripes Combo. And always working on accenting with a pop of colour. So here a nice richer Burgundy/ Maroon coloured bag ( instead of bright red in Summer), which can double up as a clutch, adds the perfect touch to complete the look.

Since the leather skirt was pleated, it had a flirty girly edge to it so why not have some fun during the shoot! Here's a candid shot for you!

Love the detailing of studs on the jacket especially for this year since many designers have caught on to the stud craze for their luxury goods e.g Valentino, Marc Jacobs etc. Also being a round collared jacket unlike most traditional high collared Biker Jackets, this style would give one more room to play with accessories or high collared inner piece necklines.

Kept my accessories simple with just a gold watch and a simple gold bangle. However since the outfit was in full leather, why not go all out with leather hi cut boots as well!

Am working now hard on editing my next video to be released before Christmas on basic Winter Items you should have in your wardrobe. So do stay tune and watch this space next.

Grey Skies :: Embellished Grey Jumper + Socks in Shoes Trend.

Brr...Hi Everyone.

The winds just changed so  much cooler overnight at the turn of the clock from 30 Nov to the 1 Dec and the whole winter festive mood just clicks in the air.

To begin, let me first thank all of you for your enthusiastic support on the Marc Jacobs US$300 Gift Card Giveaway and for your " likes" and " comments" on my blog posts. It was fun putting the looks together and being further encouraged when my readers gives me that valuable Thumbs Up!

Having not done an outfit post recently, here's one to start off my Socks in Shoes Trend which I wish to just go crazy with this Winter.

By now, many of you would realise I am a " bling" kinda girl and I love that this jumper has the embellish shoulders which just glams up a casual gray sweater. LOVE IT!

Decided to just go all out with the bling then with the chunky bangles and of course trending a new hat for this Winter. Another favourite hat style I love is this newsboy cap... casual yet fun!

Was out shopping recently for Christmas gifts for my girlfriends and family and although it's only the start of December but my word, the Christmas feeling is in the air. So I had to just to blast my favourite Christmas carols in the background whilst typing out this post. I even have my favourite Christmas fragrance burning in the oil burner in the room. I do love Christmas sooo much - just all the memories of traditions we had in the family.

This green beaded cuff bangle which I am wearing was Grandma's and one of those that I had gotten her for Christmas just the year before she passed away.  So wearing it in this outfit in the lineup for Christmas means so much.

And finally, the first of my few socks in shoes trend. This was a much lighter pair of socks which I easily paired with my stilettos from River Island. Subtle yet giving the outfit a fun element.

Let me know if this trend is a yay or a nay with you? It's the first time I am styling this trend but am certainly having fun with it.

Enjoy your weekend and do look out for my next video coming up on Monday, 8 December 2014.

Till then, keep warm and don't forget to keep your daily entries coming in for the Marc Jacobs $300 Giveaway! ( Click here)

"Choies" Clothes Video Haul : : Furry Vest, Strappy Heels & Statement Bracelet

Happy start of the week everyone !

Been feeling a lil under the weather and just couldn't get my thoughts in order to put out a post sooner till today.

Was also soooo frustrated with getting my first video out because I had used my Videocam to take the video and it automatically saved it as a ".mts file". However as I was only familiar with Windows Movie Maker to edit my movie, therefore after all the hard work I had done ( as I could view and edit the original format in WMM), resulted in utter disappointment only to discover when I tried to save and then publish the movie that it would NOT recognise my .mts video files and therefore I had to try and search high and low for a solution without having to re-take the video all over again!

After much online searching and reading forums on this topic, the only solution was to convert my video ( at a cost of course!) and so finally I managed to convert it to the format that Windows Movie Maker would recognise but I stiill needed to re-edit my movie ALL OVER AGAIN!!! ( so almost back to square 1).

Anyways, my first video was a clothes haul from Choies.com, which is an online store I had discovered and if you have been following me, you would have notice I have linked them up to many of my similar buy items. So I figured I ought to try and purchase their items to have a feel of their quality, customer service and value for money, so that I would be comfortable to put my name against it and continue to suggest them on my blog.

So firstly, pardon the little effort to coordinate this outfit all together but I wanted to put on everything I had purchased from the store in this outfit post and figured since I was already doing the video, these shots were done right after to showcase the items in definition ( so to speak!).

Kept my initial outfit simple in order to let the items stand out when I was doing the video, therefore just decided to work with a simple tee and tights. But not to worry, more " styled" outfits featuring these items will be in the making soon.

Had to keep the video short but here are additional info about the items for your reference :

1) Shipping took about 10 days ( eventhough I was wondering why as I figured they were 90% shipped out of China and being in HK, its the closest we can be.) Came by a local courier company but all seemed professional.

2) I am a regular shoe size US 8 - 8.5 / Eur 39 - 39.5. Shoes were purchased in Size 39 ( and I believe it's because that's their largest size so I took the gamble) but a Size 40 would have been a much more comfortable fit  lengthwise. On hindsight I was also concerned about the possibility of a wide opening at the front, so with narrow feet I probably went with my usual size hoping this would fit better.

TIP : Best to always buy a size up for shoes if they are coming from China and especially from online stores. Once bitten twice shy, they are often cut a size smaller.

3) Quality of the fur vest was good and it was lined well. So far, no shedding has occurred. This item could've simply been one bought in Zara in terms of it's quality.

4) No repeat customer discount was extended unlike other online stores where a discount coupon would be included in the packaging. However there is a 15% discount extended for first order and free worldwide shipping extended. They even have international european sites.

Please click on the link below and I hope you will give me a " Thumbs Up" for it.

Have a great week ahead!

Love,
Simone xoxo

Trending Tuesday :: Nude Cardigan + Printed Pants

Hi everyone. Hope you guys had a good weekend.

Been busy working on another giveaway since we are literally counting down the days to Christmas and many of you would actually be starting your early Christmas shopping. Stores are starting to throw out pre-Christmas sales and Early Bird Discounts etc... So please stay tuned !

Was having a nice cuppa this morning with a friend at Pacific Coffee and suddenly Christmas Carols started playing in the background! We literally just stared at each other and started to laugh ( we're just about mid-November and a good month and a half away from Xmas)....indeed the mood is building up in the air and before you know it, it's the holiday seasons again!

I know I am slightly behind the general blogging public here seeing I have only recently become active again but am hoping to start making videos. So whilst I am learning how to edit my own videos for the moment, I will try my best to launch my first Youtube video soon.

So here's an outfit perfect for this transitional period where a little cover up is required although it may not get that cold by mid day so you can easily slip off the cardi and enjoy the sun whilst it lasts.
