Check Mate

Happy midweek everyone!

Dad was in hospital last weekend thus I could not get down to blogging a post over the weekend, seeing I was dashing around like a blue ass fly between seeing to my dad in hospital and my own family committments!

He is much better now and just needs lots of rest. It's a scary thought obviously as we see our parents slowly age. But staying positive always helps win half of all these battles.

Back to this lovely monochromatic outfit. I wanted to do a post on restyling old outfits and this was a blend of 2 gingham dresses I had put together. You can check out the post on these two dresses - here & here. I did not even realised I had named both posts pretty similar in terms of captioning but there you go - it shows consistency in the way I think ( ha ha ha!!).

Anyways, I paired this combination of two dresses to create a pretty weekend outfit and kept it casual with black and white check slides which is such an IN trend for Summer 2018 and also my favourite straw bag and black and white drop earrings from Halo Halo Baby (@halohalobebe).

So, we do not always need to get new clothes to create new looks, go back to your wardrobe and start getting creative mix and matching your items in different and daring ways - you would be surprise the creations you can put together!!

Slip Sliding Away:: Gingham Slides and Maxi Dress

Another crazy busy week. Somehow I can't seem to find enough hours in the day to do everything that I had planned to do. Struggling as the day goes along and with the sweltering heat ranging from 33 - 35 degrees celsius, if I had the option of running my errands in swimwear I would!! But I don't have the body of a 20 something anymore and before I scare people off the street, I had better stick to my long maxi dresses which offer comfort and cover up!

Found these cute Gingham slides in Cotton On and had to have them. They are so pretty with the exaggerated bow and my bamboo Cult Gaia inspired bag which I got online ( and I believe many bloggers have been trending these all through Summer) was the perfect match for each other. Of course, I took my crap out of the bag before this shoot but believe you me, this bag could fit a fair bit.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this casual look and have yourselves a great weekend ahead!

Grown Up Gingham :: Gingham Ruffle Dress + Bucket Bag

Hi everyone. A quick outfit post today as I sit nervously by the TV watching the updates on Hurricane Irma pounding Florida.

As some of you know, our home is in Sarasota, Florida and my in-laws in their late 80s and early 90s are there on their own braving the storm and being so old, they have decided to weather it through and pray for the best seeing they are in Evacuation Zone C. We are certainly hoping they will be well and have been in non-stop contact with them.

Having also hurt my ankle badly this last week, it was tough hobbling around and therefore this was a quick outfit shot and as you can see, my bandaged ankle present in all it's glory in this post. Have been wearing ONLY flats for the last 2 weeks and it's not fun. I believe I had torn a ligament and the swelling is indeed taking awhile to subside.

Back to the outfit, gingham is definitely a trending hit in summer and from the recent Fashion Week highlights, we can see this trend continuing for 2018. I love this cool, lightweight summer gingham dress with its statement ruffles. Cute in a way, girly and so feminine. Looking to style it with a skirt or perhaps even pants for a different look.

Thanks for reading and sorry this was a quick post. Our thoughts and prayers are certainly for all who are affected by this massive Hurricane, not only in Florida but also in Cuba and the islands.

Grown Up Gingham

Hi everyone.

Another busy week, making apple sauce with my children at school and as I was wrapping the lovely jars for them to take home with gingham print cloths, I figured, hey I have had this gingham print dress in my wardrobe for awhile and since the weather still permits, sleeveless wearing, I quickly pulled it out from my closet for this weekend before the weather starts to cool down further.

A lovely ASOS dress which one can trend in Fall by throwing over a lovely leather jacket or a bomber jacket for that edgy touch.

I love the high cut top and the flare skirt which gives the dress a whole, almost 1950s vibe. Paired the high waist dress with a thick laser cut belt which  further cinches the waistline creating a slimmer figure.

A girly dress - it just made me feel like dancing in it.

For a change, paired the outfit with a nice little hat and sunnies with a pretty pair of red suede shoes.

Cha Cha Cha :: Checkered Skirt & Gingham Street Styles 2015.

Happy Friday,

Slowly picking up pace on my blog posts again whilst I sort out my personal issues. Sorry for the slowdown over the last 2 weeks. Should be back on track very soon with exciting collaborations and giveaways coming your way soon.

Meanwhile, as mentioned in my previous post on my " 10 MUST HAVES FOR SPRING WARDROBE 2015", Gingham is heavy trending in terms of pattern for this year. So some of you may be wondering what is the difference then between Gingham prints,  Checks, Plaid & Tartan?

Gingham pattern are usually smaller check prints of equal width ( square) and often alternating with white. Many often associate this kind of print with aprons, kitchen cloths and young girls' outfits. But 2015 will see this print in clothing styles that would take it up a notch to a sexy level.

Plaid ( as its known in the USA & Canada) OR Tartan, is often associated with Scottish kilts or blanket patterns. Consisting of varying criss crossing of horizontal and vertical bands where the varying stripes meet, this gives the appearance of new colours blended from the original ones.

Checks tend to be larger square patterns of equal width, similar to Gingham, and often alternating with white or black though not always.

So now that we have cleared up the confusion of these varying checkered patterns, here's my style inspiration for you this week. As I do not own anything in Gingham JUST YET ( and hopefully I will look at getting some), therefore I decided to pull out my checkered peplum skirt - being the next closest pattern to Gingham and trend it since the weather has warmed up a little.

Nice to throw on a floppy hat and statement jewelry to top off the whole look!

So how at best can you Style Gingham pattern for 2015? Here are some Street Styles over Fashion Week SS 2015 trending Gingham prints, for you to draw your inspirations from.
