Tickle Me Pink

For some reason ( and this may actually spill the beans on my actual age...) but I started to feel a little nostalgic and reminiscent of the past recently. Particularly so of my teenage years and uni days.

And so, I tapped on iTunes my favourite band of all time -Tears for Fears, and immediately the memories started flowing. I recall how I painstakingly recorded my favourite songs of the band on a casette tape and played them on my walkman with headphones on as I sat on the school bus every morning who picked me up as early as 6am in the darkness, to head for school.

Their songs were of extreme vision and each song had so much meaning to the various stages of my life. It shaped and impressed the views of the world on me at that time. The struggles of mankind. And to this day, those songs still hold such strong political meaning.

Back to this playful look, its no denying I am into blush pink at the moment and with the embroidered detailing on the neckline as well as the long sleeves, this was a hit for me!

I hope you enjoyed this look and please share with me which is your favourite band of all time. It would be fun for us to reminisce together.

China Red :: Red Floral Chinese Collar Dress + Embroidered Shawl

A wonderful weekend to you all.

Being the last day of the Chinese New Year, I figured a nice close to the days of celebrations would be ideal. So here's the last of my Chinese New Year outfit posts worn during these 2 weeks of festivities.

As with tradition, both the eve of Chinese New Year and the close of the New Year celebrations, families would gather together for a lovely meal. Here we had setup a cosy hotpot dinner with closer friends. It was a declicious heartwarming meal both with the great company and the comfort food in the cold winter.

My lovely helper put together the dinner setting whilst we were all out at work during the day. Such a pretty sight....

This cotton version of a cheongsam was a modern take on this traditional costume and one that could double up as a top or even worn on regular days unlike the silk or embroidered versions often kept for special occasions. As the evenings this February is kinda cold in Hong Kong, a wool shawl was the perfect accessory for the night.

I love the pheonix embroidered pattern on this Gucci Shawl.

Happy Year of the Rooster!

50 Shades of Pink :: Pink Faux Fur Coat + Lace Top

Hi everyone,

Whilst the general public was decked out in bright red or yellows around Hong Kong, I wanted to be a little different and with a slightly cooler New Year period, I decided to go for Pink this time around.

When I say " Pink" I truly mean head to toe Pink. The first for me and perhaps it could be a fashion Faux Pas but hey if you can't be daring during the Chinese New Year, when can one be where loud and garish is the motto for this period.

Seriously, when I was heading out of the house my 10 yr old son said to me "Mom, are you sure you wanna wear that out? I seriously think you look ridiculous!" And he went on to say " I think you should lose that coat and lose those earrings!". And he meant it!! ( sigh.....when your son starts to feel embarrass by you, it's a sign he is growing up).

To be honest, I was feeling weird in an all pink outfit but it was one of those days when I wanted to play around and hey it was Chinese New Year, so people should appreciate my effort of keeping the outfit to the preferred red / pink colour palettes.

Love how the contrast of textures play in this outfit, from lace to faux fur and tassel chandelier earrings. The pink jeans was to ground the whole look together and of course, if I had paired it with pink boots I might as well be sent to the fashion " Sin Bin" so kept it subtle with the bag and the boots to my favourite colour to match with pink - Grey!

Happy New Year once again and hope you enjoyed this look!

Let's Fly To the (Mira) Moon!

Hi everyone,

Hong Kong just celebrated the Mid Autumn Festival on 15 September 2016 with many outdoor celebrations of lantern appreciation and walks, and of course many hotels and restaurants offering great deals for family dinners which is part of the celebrations. Children walking with lanterns out in the villages and many families laughing and chatting whilst enjoying different flavours and variations of mooncakes - such a beautiful sight all over Hong Kong.

For my family, we had a mini celebration at home and the day after - brunch at the Mira Moon hotel - of which it's decor and design of the hotel was built around the myth and legend of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Therefore rabbits, peonies, chinese motifs and the moon is an abundant sight within the hotel's premises.

Since cami tops seem to be quite a trend these days, I opted to wear a similar top in bright yellow sans the recent t-shirt under trend, shining bright and strong like the golden moon. Paired this look with these comfy lace wedges from Vince Camuto.

Straw clutch to ground the look and matched it with my tassel Chanel earrings in light gold.

With a nice cold champagne in hand, I headed out to a small outdoor area which apparently I came to understand is the only hotel / bar in Wan Chai that holds this license for rooftop outdoor smoking. Its a cool little corner indeed.

After finishing off my surf n turf lunch and enjoying a nice dessert of tiramisu and chocolate " boom boom" which is chocolate covered custard, we headed off to the guestroom corridors for a quick tour.

I am most certainly loving these pretty wooden carvings along each corridor and don't you think those little bunny rabbits are just so divine? Heard from the General Manager that they had lovely little stuffed rabbits hiding all over the hotel especially in their dining outlet " Secret Garden" for this lovely festival but sad to say, many guests just could not help but literally " stole" them home! Good for PR I would say, bad for the hotel though cos it was all gone over and out in a spate of a night!

Hope you enjoyed this post and do share with me if you celebrated the Lantern / Mid-Autumn Festival and what did you do?

Love,
Simone xoxo

Samba into Fall :: Stripe Off Shoulder Balloon Sleeve Top + Tassel Earrings

Hi everyone,

Indeed a sad day - the anniversary of 9/11. Been watching unreleased footage on TV all day and getting a little down for sure. Thoughts and prayers are with the families and victims affected by this tragedy.

For this post, here's my red, white and blue outfit to stand by the people of America and let them know we are with you on this sad day of remembrance. Pairing with this outfit is one of Fall's must-have accessory - the Tassel Earring.

Going out on a date night with my husband, this look was perfect for dinner and drinks.

Kept the rest of the outfit plain and simple so the top and tassel earrings would stand out and make a statement. Nude wedges and envelope clutch was the perfect combination to finish the look.

So in my last post, I was whinging a little about the hypocrisy of the human nature. To follow up on that comment - this last week, my eyes were opened even more to realise there is nothing I can do to change the way these people think and behave. I will not accept it, but I will also not let myself be pulled down by such primitive thinking and insecurities of others. These people lacking in confidence will never achieve much in life. Incessant whinging and moaning will get them nowhere and certainly not get them ahead in anything that they do. Hopefully they will realise it one day.

Back to the outfit, decking myself out in birthday pressies from lovely people in my life - earrings from a colleague, envelope clutch from an aunt and a pretty bracelet from a lovely couple.

Not forgetting to mention, these lovely Max Mara Wedges that was showcased in the Max Mara Preview Collection post ( check it out here & here).

Over the last week, I came across an online store - Stylewe.com which had lovely pretty bags, accessories and outfits ( some similar to designer items) at a fraction of the price. As always, my motto of " Get The Look for Less" prevails and so here are some lovely items I identified on their online store which you may be interested in.

As we enter into Fall, I am looking forward to trend trousers and pants, and these flared cut offs are so cute!

A classic pair of black culottes would be a wardrobe essential.

I don't know about you, but I do love jumpsuits and this 2 piece jumpsuit is a classic.

A lovely oriental style Bomber Jacket is perfect for those cooler days coming up.

Spotted these designer inspired bags on their site which is simply too pretty not to consider for adding that extra touch to your outfit.
