Hey everyone,

How are you holding up? I think many of you would be staying at home during this period of time, practising social distancing and just keeping safe and praying this soon will pass. For me, my son's international school was recently identified as a new cluster in this second wave that hit Singapore within the last week or so, and I must say we were kinda worried and scared especially as I also have my 80 yr old mom living with us. However, we just do what we can to protect ourselves for the moment and thank god none of the kids in the school have been confirmed cases so we are keeping cross their resilience will keep them going. School though has been close for my boy since last week and online virtual learning is full on. Somehow I feel more stressed with him being home and ensuring he keeps to his timetable for his studies and not chatting with his mates over Zoom. Ultimately, we pray for everyone's health and safety and for the families who have lost their love ones.

In this post, I wanted to bring to you something bright to cheer you up ( again!). So, this was a look I had taken just before everything started to get more serious - well here in Singapore at least. If you have been following me, you would have noticed that only 2 weeks ago I was still out and about on photo shoots but now, I am totally putting everything on the back bench to do my part and be socially responsible and stay home as much as possible, only venturing out for essentials. Only if everyone started staying in more and paid more attention to be as cautious as possible, can we seriously get over this whole pandemic. Unfortunately here in Singapore, I do see many still out and about at the malls or in the parks, without much regard how serious the issue is. I do understand about not panicking but complacency is also not right! So please if you are reading this, do your part to protect yourselves and your love ones and stay home!

Back to my post, as I needed that big pop of colour to boost my moods - so bring on the lemon yellow fever! Decked out almost head to toe in citrus yellow ( including my sunnies) to brighten up my mood, I realise it may be too strong a colour to inspire some of you, hence I  toned the look down with the mix of a denim jacket. Just to break things up a little.

Keeping the look simple and ready for summer 2020, I paired this casual outfit with a pair of white cotton sneakers and a honeycomb rattan woven bag which added that much needed quirky touch to the whole outfit.

I love how this gorgeous contemporary yellow block ring and yellow sunnies 😎 just topped off and finished  the whole yellow look like fancy toppings on a birthday cake. Well before I sign off, keep safe guys, stay positive and remember that a small inconvenience of staying at home for a period of time is being socially responsible and certainly helps us all to get ahead of this virus so that we can all get back to our lives again. Happy New Year everyone and hope 2020 has kicked off to a great start for you.

My 2020 certainly kicked off on a colourful start with a beautiful parcel arriving hand delivered from Hong Kong from Heritage Refashioned (@refashioned). The gift of  3 gorgeous upcycled vintage clutch bags refashioned from vintage kimonos and fabrics is the end product of designer - Vincci Ching who was initially inspired on one of her trips to Tokyo, where she spotted a pile of kimono scraps at the bag of a kimono boutique, that the owner mentioned was to be thrown out though some people do buy them off him to recycle them into other products. Vincci then took several bags of these " scraps" back to Hong Kong playing around with various designs and products, and today the success of her creations are so internationally recognised and coveted, that her beautiful clutches was even included in a recent Golden Globes goodie bag.

Vincci and I had recently connected and once she learned how I was also very much interested in promoting sustainable fashion and being eco-conscious as well as working with vintage / retro items, this was a very pleasant and deeply appreciated surprise to start off my new year.


This being the first of the 3 clutches I wish to showcase to you, I wanted to style this polka dot, bright fuchsia bow clutch in a modern outfit. To bring it very up to date with an outfit that everyone can relate to. A simple white top / blue jeans ensemble that brings out the boldness of the clutch colours as well as the unique and fun, playful design. To tie in the look, I paired it with my gorgeous @tabithasg necklace which is handmade in Cambodia by the local community, and of which the proceeds of these silk necklaces go towards helping the local Cambodians out of poverty. The crafting skills which the locals pick up from the programs run by Tabitha Foundation, helps them to earn an income and therefore provide them food, education and where their general health and well being is significantly improved. I must say I am so in love with these necklaces that I have a collection of them now.

Giving back to society, helping to keep fashion sustainable and reducing fashion's carbon footprint to save the earth is the vision of many in the fashion industry for 2020. You may wish to check out more of Vincci's other products and design at their website ( click here) where you can find other smaller accessories like card holders, cufflinks, silk hair ties, travel bag, coin purses..... and the list just goes on. I am certainly in love with how she has very much made vintage " new" and modern again!

Hi everyone,

If you have been following me on Instagram ( @yourstylearchitect), you will notice a shift in my perspective on being a fashion influencer / fashionista. I have always loved fast fashion for the value worth of the item and more so that I can style and trend looks at a lower cost however with all that is going on with climate change, I started to only recently realise how the fast fashion industry significantly contributes to global warming and therefore decided to do my little bit to help make a difference.

To be honest, whilst some of my items are sponsored however most of the items I showcase are my personal buys. And whilst I have also highly recommended " Rent an outfit" concept but for some this may be a costlier option. Therefore working with the current items in your wardrobe, I decided to start showcasing how one can style an item in various ways in order to " stretch your dollar" and be fashion sustainable. You will find these looks on my IGTV on Instagram.

Meanwhile, this " dress" you see in this post is actually a skirt that is part of a Malay style outfit known as a Baju Kurung. The longer style top can be worn as a summer dress on its own and since this is a maxi skirt, I decided to split up the outfit to create different outfits from one. Therefore the skirt has been styled as a strapless summer dress here in this post.

I had done the same too with a maxi skirt that was featured on my IGTV ( 4 Ways To Wear A Maxi Skirt). Cinching the waist with a wide leather belt helps to create some form to the outfit and as the print was a batik style print, I decided to style this look retro with a headscarf and retro accessories. Thanks to my mom, these vintage earrings ( way back from the 50s and ring which was actually a scarf ring) completed the look for me.

I kinda enjoy mix and matching an existing piece from my wardrobe to create different looks so that one need not constantly be out purchasing new outfits but rather get creative to style what you have in your closet in different looks. You can also do your part to help global warming in this way.

Hi everyone,

I recently came across a picture from Carolina Herrera's Fall 2019 collection and immediately thought to myself - " I have a similar looking skirt in my wardrobe". So off I went pulling this skirt out which I had featured before on my post in one of my previous looks ( see post here), and decided to work on styling this skirt 4 ways starting off with the look inspired by Carolina Herrera.

I styled my skirt in 4 different ways and released an IGTV video on Instagram where some of you had commented that you had liked this particular look, whilst others were intrigued in how I mixed and match the skirt with existing pieces from my wardrobe to create different looks for different occasions. You can check out the video below.

I think in this day and age, with us fashionistas being more conscious of how we shop and how we can help to sustain fashion, therefore, trying to mix and match items from your current wardrobe and recycling looks is most certainly a refreshing way to add life to old pieces and also to be creative in our styling options.

Retro Summer :: Scarf, Sea and Sand

















Hi everyone.

Since returning from my recent summer holiday in Florida, unfortunately Cookie who is my 14.5 yr old Cocker Spaniel has been taken ill with seizures and partial loss of vision. We knew this was coming as she was getting on in years and struggling to walk with the onset of arthritis before we left. However this really took lots out of me as she is my first " baby" and to see her struggle like this is so painful and heartbreaking. Hence I had to reprioritise my life and decided to take a little time off all social media to focus on nursing her back to her stronger self.

Her seizures are less frequent though still happening at least 5 - 6 times in a day and which sees her  falling over whenever it attacks. Thank god she is only experiencing focal seizures where she loses her balance and coordination with her hind legs but its sad to suddenly see her just fall over unexpectedly. Often, she also surprises herself and looks at me wondering " what the hell is going on mom?" Now about a month since we got back, and the onset of these new conditions, she is coping with it and compensating lots when she feels it coming on and trying her hardest to stabilise herself before she falls. But the poor girl is just getting old.

Anyway, in this post I would like to share with you my continued styling of headscarfs this summer, particularly for the beach. If you had not already noticed, recently I have started to style my looks in more retro / vintage feel and so this trip out to Florida was no different. Taking a regular full button down cotton dress and styling it with a headscarf, oversize sunnies and high waisted bikini - I felt like Bridgette Bardot!!

I guess with my short hairstyle, it is kinda difficult to play around with changes to my hairdo to create different styles, hence accessories such as a scarf especially when out on trips is perfect to maximise one's wardrobe whilst travelling. Bring a few essentials and play around with it. This scarf is even large enough to be worn as a pareo for the beach after the swim. Or if you are adventurous enough to wear it as a top over denim shorts for holidays is yet another way to maximise one's wardrobe whilst on the road.

I was not quite ready to do a full on swimwear shoot seeing I had just eaten way too much on this trip, but a nice coverup with a full button down dress, leather slides and statement bag still makes one look quite stylish on the beach. High waisted bikinis is my IN thing this summer too and this @aguaclara piece is divine for the beach!
