Hi everyone,

As Summer is round the corner and with budgets tightened to spend on a new summer wardrobe especially during this trying time for many of us, I thought it would be nice to bring you a look which you could stretch your dollar with and show you how to restyle a wrap dress as an outerwear.

So, this gorgeous floral cotton wrap dress aka the perfect summer dress, has been converted to an outerwear and I paired this with a simple crop tee and wide leg crop pants to bring this whole look together. Bringing out the colours in the dress, I particularly chose this funky mesh necklace from Betsey Johnson and a blue mesh bracelet from Swarovski to complete this outfit. Of course to make one look taller, always bring the colour of the skirt or pants all the way down to the heels to lengthen the look.

For those of you who have been following me, you will notice I have gone a little more creative this time with my look, playing with bold and bright pink eyeshadow for a change and of course my prop of a bunch of pink flowers was added to bring out the quirkiness in this new direction I am taking with my shoots. A little more fun, more editorial. Due to the lockdown I had to keep taking shots within my home and it got kinda boring for me to be doing my traditional fashion shots, so decided to go quirky this time.

I hope you enjoyed this look and watch this space as I bring you another post  soon, where I do wear the dress and style it as it is, on its own.

Do leave me a comment and let me know if you like this bolder and more creative style of my shots.

Love,
Simone xoxo

Hi everyone.

Hope you had a good long Easter weekend break.

To kick off the week, this was my take on what would be an ideal Easter outfit. A sign of rebirth, new life, I was immediately drawn to this dress calling out my name on the racks of ZARA when I was out recently.

A beautiful 1950s swing dress style, I love the full circle skirt which is so flattering and the V cut front certainly flatters one's décolletage. If you are daring enough to wear this dress loud and proud, bring the collar up to create an even more sexy and dramatic feel to this dress. The cinching of the waist with the black belt that comes with the dress, creates the perfect silhouette of the hour glass figure.

I wanted to keep the look fresh pairing it with nude accessories e.g nude wedges and a statement straw bag. However you can most certainly also up the ante with a black quilted top handle bag or perhaps a cross body or clutch bag as well as black stiletto heels.

Of course with such a loud dress, best to keep one's accessories simple and so keeping with the floral theme, I have styled this look with a simple black flower cocktail ring and black beaded earrings keeping the look toned down and with the main focus on the dress with subtle statement accessories.

I hope you enjoy this look and as this dress is fresh out of Zara's oven - you can still find it in the stores now!

Love,
Simone xoxo

A week into the Chinese New Year - Year of the Pig, many are still out there meeting up friends and relatives for the traditional Lo Hei ( which means " tossing the salad" ). This is a dish traditionally available only in Singapore and Malaysia but gradually finding it's way all over the world. Many chefs through the years have added their personal twist and touch to this dish which every member around the table tosses the mixture of salad ingredients, each symbolising good fortune and wealth. By raising their chopsticks and tossing the salad together ( the higher one drops it the more luck it is believed to befall on their participants) whilst chanting auspicious sayings like " good health and good wealth", " money come money come" etc.. it is definitely a sight to enjoy, a thrill to participate in and definitely fun for all the generations to come together in laughter and good cheer.

Feeling nostalgic, let's look back now through the years on my various Chinese New Year outfits.

This year feeling little subdued with Dad being gone less than a year, so I kept to more pastel colours.
Off shoulder or toga style has been my thing these couple of weeks and so this outfit from Talulah was the ideal choice for Chinese New Year.

Floral and yet subtle in colour, I love the asymmetric skirt and toga cut which accentuates the right parts of my body and more so with the embellishment at the waistline it certainly created a beautiful silhouette and yet such a comfortable dress to wear.

Paired it with a blush clutch and heels and being Chinese New Year, don on my favourite dragonfly jade earrings and diamond bangle and ring to complete the look.

Hope you like this and wishing all of you a happy Chinese New Year!!

Love,
Simone xoxo

China Red :: Red Floral Chinese Collar Dress + Embroidered Shawl

A wonderful weekend to you all.

Being the last day of the Chinese New Year, I figured a nice close to the days of celebrations would be ideal. So here's the last of my Chinese New Year outfit posts worn during these 2 weeks of festivities.

As with tradition, both the eve of Chinese New Year and the close of the New Year celebrations, families would gather together for a lovely meal. Here we had setup a cosy hotpot dinner with closer friends. It was a declicious heartwarming meal both with the great company and the comfort food in the cold winter.

My lovely helper put together the dinner setting whilst we were all out at work during the day. Such a pretty sight....

This cotton version of a cheongsam was a modern take on this traditional costume and one that could double up as a top or even worn on regular days unlike the silk or embroidered versions often kept for special occasions. As the evenings this February is kinda cold in Hong Kong, a wool shawl was the perfect accessory for the night.

I love the pheonix embroidered pattern on this Gucci Shawl.

Happy Year of the Rooster!

Floral Christmas :: Romwe.com Button Down Floral Dress cum Coat + Red Accents

Happy start of the week everyone!

I don't know about you but I had a horrid last week when my laptop crashed and the best part of it all, I did not do a recent backup. URGH.......Was desperately praying that all data would not be lost and had to work on my smartphone and ipad for emails etc... but you guys can imagine how frustrating that it is for me. Especially when all pictures have been uploaded and edited on my laptop!

Thank god for a kind and SMART I.T " angel" who saved my day and "Mr N." as I would like to call him -  managed to retrieve all information on my laptop for me before having to change my whole hard disk.

So here it is, my latest and long overdue post for the kind people at Romwe.com who saw my last post highlighting some of their items. So as I would like to put it - " christmas came early for me" and here is one of the goodies they kindly extended to me for my effort. If you have not read my previous post on them, here it is again ( click here).

The full button down front allows the option of styling this dress as an outerwear for a different look. Although the dress came with a red faux leather belt, however I decided to pair it with my own red and blue elastic belt to cinch in the waist a little better. I do love the cut and the way the dress falls nicely around the waist, though it was a little snug around the upper arms and chest.

I would best advise you to consider 2 sizes up if you are getting this dress simply as it may not totally be true to size. Given I was sent an XL size for this dress when I am usually a regular L size girl and yet finding it a tad snug around the chest.

Was hoping to channel the Duchess of Cambridge " Kate Middleton" with this outfit. I love how she wears those lovely longer coats and matching dresses in many of her engagements. Not forgetting, florals are an IN trend this winter as well so feel free to be as loud as you can with those prints.

Have a great time shopping for the last weeks before Christmas !!
