Keeping Vintage Alive !

Hi everyone,

Thanks for being so patient in waiting for this post.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for always being there for me. Always supporting me with your follows, comments and just listening to me vent and express my views every now and then and appreciating the effort I put into each post and picture,  and what I intend to put out there to inspire.

Of late, I have been facing an emotional battle with social media and what I had intended for my Instagram profile when I first started. However having been working non-stop since Singapore went into her Circuit Breaker period ( now being 7 months), I have seen so many good and also bad sides of people and in many ways have had me feeling so disappointed in the humankind. To see and hear about the evils happening around the world, like the terrorist acts in France and all the wrong doings big or small and crimes committed against innocent people during this period, gets me thinking that I too cannot just sit here and do my thing when I hear of all the hurt and pain others are facing in another part of the world. A

So, I have decided to take it slow with social media for a while. To regroup my thoughts and feelings and not let it take over my life but compliment the direction I want to take with it. So for today's post - something a little different again - channeling vintage.

There is always something about Vintage that makes me happy. To bring me back to old times when people were perhaps happier, simpler and appreciative of others' efforts. And so this lovely shirt that I had gotten from my favourite local vintage store A Vintage Tale resonates so strongly with the 60s for me - girl power and freedom. Paired it with another striking pattern of a floral clutch and a statement leather vintage belt and grounded the look with retro earrings and a simple pair of grey Chanel sneakers.

Feeling the whole 60s Flower Power vibe, done my hair differently this time and bringing us back down to reality - finished off the look with a matching coloured mask from Al.Ma.Lu as I am sure this is the new normal for us to be wearing masks out for most countries well into next year.

I hope you like this fun and fresh look and do let me know if this is a style I should continue to trend moving forward. Stay safe everyone!

Love,

Simone xoxo

Hi everyone,

The weekend has come and gone quickly and I was indeed kept extremely busy working on my content for next week's schedule! Excited... you should be cos I have so many amazing items to showcase to you and I just want to do them all at once!!

This outfit was a challenge by a girlfriend on Instagram who had asked me to style a black and white stripe skirt as the challenge in 3 different ways. Do check out my post here for the 3 styles I had put together. The first way I have styled this skirt was to start with the comfort zone colour combination, and in this case - a "no brainer" of a black coloured top.

Trying to keep the look classic - I styled it with this gorgeous single tassel freshwater baroque pearl and crystal necklace from Maarz Pearls. Most people often associate pearl necklaces and jewellery with the older generation but let me tell you this - designed in contemporary style and paired with the right outfit, these pieces can be equally as stylish for a 20 yr old as it would for an 80 yr old. After all, even vintage is IN now, so what more pearls?

What I love about this particular tassel necklace is that each pearl is so uniquely shaped and the contemporary design of the necklace mixed with the the black and green crystals as well as the gold chain certainly adds some pop of colour to a monochrome outfit. And whilst we are at it with pops of colour, I just had to finish the look with this gorgeous pair of heels from The Tui Collection which is so aptly called " Simone Heels". The black and gold combination of this leather pair of sexy heels perfectly carries the look through. How can I not style it then?

Back to this stunning necklace - this Baroque tassel necklace from Maarz Pearls is from their Ottoman collection. A local label based in Singapore, all of their jewellery are handmade using silver and 18K gold plating. Each of these unique pieces is put together using freshwater pearls and multi gem stones and crystals. Therefore, no 2 pieces of jewellery are the same and Maryam the designer and owner of Maarz Pearls very rarely repeats a collection. I always believe one should have a variety of jewellery types in one's jewellery box that you can play with in different ways with your outfit and if there is one pearl necklace you should own - this would definitely be a classic to own! The versatility of this necklace where you can play with the necklace length by double twisting it to be worn as a choker or half length necklace to mix and match with different neckline outfits - makes it an investment piece for sure.

Do watch this space as I will bring you other variations on how you can style this lovely necklace from Maarz Pearls. With Mother's Day around the corner and since we are all in lockdown - why not consider a lovely pieces of freshwater pearl necklace or bracelet for Mom to cheer her up during this slightly sadder times. Now, at the time this post is published, Maarz Pearl is offering a storewide 15% discount on their items - no code required upon checkout. Perfect for you to grab yourself a great deal for a gorgeous piece of arm or neck candy for Mom! Or perhaps a dainty little pair of earrings!!

Maarz Pearls also offers free domestic and international shipping with a minimum spend - so for those of you based overseas, you can still very easily get your hands on these stunning pieces to add to your jewellery box!

I hope you enjoyed this post and look forward to bringing you more stunning jewellery pieces for you to consider in the next few posts!

Love,
Simone xoxo

Hey everyone,

Its Day #14 for me having started to practise and seriously take into account social distancing and my self imposed stay at home notice. It's been a little trying cos you know how much I love to be out and about taking my photos in various settings outdoors and just to go visit my favourite brands to land my support ( emotionally as well as maybe even helping their business in purchasing an item or 2)  in their retail outlets. However with the increase number of community spread that we are now facing in our second wave of this pandemic here in Singapore, everyone of us needs to do our part to ensure that we can stop this vicious cycle. What is this little inconvenience when others are fighting for their lives!!

So here I am, stuck at home and feeling that itch to start putting shoots together again. Hence, I decided to style this gorgeous dress today on my balcony. This beautiful cotton dress was sent me a while ago by Pastel Peacock. Started by Pooja Patel who is a fashion designer based in Ahmedabad, India, I love the block print on the hemline of this outfit and the cotton fabric is such a welcome treat for such hot weather these days in Singapore.

As you know me, more is more -  and so I had to add on my little personal touches to finish off this classic cut dress by pairing it with my leather vintage belt from The Tui Collection, my all time favourite pair of earrings from Halo Halo Bebe, this gorgeous rattan bag from Miuccia Studio and of course the pop of colour with my Fire Engine Red Lipstick and this pair of their latest collection  Ria Menorca wedges from Binibeca Fashion.

Feeling that vibe of Audrey Hepburn in this classic style swing dress that's so perfect for summer -  this look had to be paired with a wide brim summer hat to complete the look. Inspired by the tribal style print on the dress, this pair of cuffs given to me for my birthday ( let me think about 8-10 years ago ) adds that final touch to seal the deal!!

I hope you enjoyed this look and remember - stay safe and stay indoors!

Love,
Simone xoxo

Hey everyone,

How are you holding up? I think many of you would be staying at home during this period of time, practising social distancing and just keeping safe and praying this soon will pass. For me, my son's international school was recently identified as a new cluster in this second wave that hit Singapore within the last week or so, and I must say we were kinda worried and scared especially as I also have my 80 yr old mom living with us. However, we just do what we can to protect ourselves for the moment and thank god none of the kids in the school have been confirmed cases so we are keeping cross their resilience will keep them going. School though has been close for my boy since last week and online virtual learning is full on. Somehow I feel more stressed with him being home and ensuring he keeps to his timetable for his studies and not chatting with his mates over Zoom. Ultimately, we pray for everyone's health and safety and for the families who have lost their love ones.

In this post, I wanted to bring to you something bright to cheer you up ( again!). So, this was a look I had taken just before everything started to get more serious - well here in Singapore at least. If you have been following me, you would have noticed that only 2 weeks ago I was still out and about on photo shoots but now, I am totally putting everything on the back bench to do my part and be socially responsible and stay home as much as possible, only venturing out for essentials. Only if everyone started staying in more and paid more attention to be as cautious as possible, can we seriously get over this whole pandemic. Unfortunately here in Singapore, I do see many still out and about at the malls or in the parks, without much regard how serious the issue is. I do understand about not panicking but complacency is also not right! So please if you are reading this, do your part to protect yourselves and your love ones and stay home!

Back to my post, as I needed that big pop of colour to boost my moods - so bring on the lemon yellow fever! Decked out almost head to toe in citrus yellow ( including my sunnies) to brighten up my mood, I realise it may be too strong a colour to inspire some of you, hence I  toned the look down with the mix of a denim jacket. Just to break things up a little.

Keeping the look simple and ready for summer 2020, I paired this casual outfit with a pair of white cotton sneakers and a honeycomb rattan woven bag which added that much needed quirky touch to the whole outfit.

I love how this gorgeous contemporary yellow block ring and yellow sunnies 😎 just topped off and finished  the whole yellow look like fancy toppings on a birthday cake. Well before I sign off, keep safe guys, stay positive and remember that a small inconvenience of staying at home for a period of time is being socially responsible and certainly helps us all to get ahead of this virus so that we can all get back to our lives again. Take care ok?

Love,
Simone xoxo

Escape Into A Vintage Tale

Hi everyone,

Today, I am bringing you a very different style of a blog post. This was a recent shoot done for A Vintage Tale based here in Singapore who recently launched their new collection of over 250pcs. Now with what is happening with Covid 19 and the global pandemic, everyone is obviously concern with spending money. However my bottom line is - work with keeping fashion sustainable and recycle outfits rather than fast fashion.

We had much fun putting this photoshoot together with different concepts and themes, however the point we want to make is - dare to be different, create your own style. Restyle and recycle your current wardrobe and in this case, shop smart and by supporting vintage, one is also helping to keep fashion sustainable rather than chucking out old style clothing. Upcycle your outfits if they seem too dated and create new pieces from old pieces.

Let me know which is your favourite outfit from the photoshoot.
