Retro Summer :: Scarf, Sea and Sand

Hi everyone.

Since returning from my recent summer holiday in Florida, unfortunately Cookie who is my 14.5 yr old Cocker Spaniel has been taken ill with seizures and partial loss of vision. We knew this was coming as she was getting on in years and struggling to walk with the onset of arthritis before we left. However this really took lots out of me as she is my first " baby" and to see her struggle like this is so painful and heartbreaking. Hence I had to reprioritise my life and decided to take a little time off all social media to focus on nursing her back to her stronger self.

Her seizures are less frequent though still happening at least 5 - 6 times in a day and which sees her  falling over whenever it attacks. Thank god she is only experiencing focal seizures where she loses her balance and coordination with her hind legs but its sad to suddenly see her just fall over unexpectedly. Often, she also surprises herself and looks at me wondering " what the hell is going on mom?" Now about a month since we got back, and the onset of these new conditions, she is coping with it and compensating lots when she feels it coming on and trying her hardest to stabilise herself before she falls. But the poor girl is just getting old.

Anyway, in this post I would like to share with you my continued styling of headscarfs this summer, particularly for the beach. If you had not already noticed, recently I have started to style my looks in more retro / vintage feel and so this trip out to Florida was no different. Taking a regular full button down cotton dress and styling it with a headscarf, oversize sunnies and high waisted bikini - I felt like Bridgette Bardot!!

I guess with my short hairstyle, it is kinda difficult to play around with changes to my hairdo to create different styles, hence accessories such as a scarf especially when out on trips is perfect to maximise one's wardrobe whilst travelling. Bring a few essentials and play around with it. This scarf is even large enough to be worn as a pareo for the beach after the swim. Or if you are adventurous enough to wear it as a top over denim shorts for holidays is yet another way to maximise one's wardrobe whilst on the road.

I was not quite ready to do a full on swimwear shoot seeing I had just eaten way too much on this trip, but a nice coverup with a full button down dress, leather slides and statement bag still makes one look quite stylish on the beach. High waisted bikinis is my IN thing this summer too and this @aguaclara piece is divine for the beach!

I hope you enjoyed this look and do let me know if you are into headscarfs this summer too.

Love,
Simone xoxo

Happy midweek everyone.

Finally! Unpacked all 147 boxes that arrived from Hong Kong and it's just been a crazy mad 2 weeks. As I slowly settle into a new routine and get everything organised and in order, here's a quick midweek post to pick up the pace and get myself back into action.

Many of you would have noticed that I have slowed down considerably over the last few weeks... trust me I wish I had more time but it's not easy with this move. I hope all will be back on track again from now on.

Now if I can share a little secret with you. I have not been watching TV for the longest time - just had not had the time in Hong Kong with work and blogging and all. But since I am stuck at home now for most of the day, with the move and before I perhaps head back to the workforce again... I have had the TV on whilst I am busy ironing and doing the housework and got hooked on a particular reality TV show from the US.

" Married at First Sight" had been around since 2014 but I only just discovered it and boy... am I hooked!! Its a nice change from having to do crafts and prepare songs and story puppets although I do miss working with my kindy kids so much!

So the reason I brought this up was that watching the very first pilot series - Jamie (one of the wives on the show) had such great style and I love her lip colours and funky accessories. Often I am more crazy about accessories and fashion than makeup itself but this time I am badly wanting to go out and get all the lip colours she's been trending. And so here is the first of the light pinks she has been wearing. I love it!!

Before I sign off, please excuse the state of my nails ( chipped and broken) due to all that unpacking... but not to worry - the diva is back on track and I have got them all fixed now. It was hard ... let me tell ya!

Enjoy the rest of the week ahead !

Happy weekend everyone and to those in Asia - a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!!

I am slowly putting together my Fall Wardrobe and have done a recent Clothes Haul in Zara, MANGO and H&M. Will be putting a video together on my recent clothes haul, so watch this space!

Meanwhile, I came across a new online clothing store which I wish to share with you. Pretty much similar items to most online stores e.g Choies,Chicwish, Lookbook Store, Jollychic etc... ROMWE has a great selection and variety of items to pick out to build your Fall Wardrobe at a reasonable budget. As I love to always provide tips to my readers for "#Getting The Look for Less" I picked out a couple of items from their online store to share with you.

Keeping in line with Fall and upcoming Spring Summer 2016 trends, here are some of my choices - my wishlist.Feel free to click on the pictures on your favourite items to link you to their store for pricing, quick purchases, colour and size options.

1) Military Style

Army Green Sleeveless Hooded Jacket

A popular and classic style to trend for Fall/ Autumn 2015, I was immediately drawn to this army green vest for the style is casual yet funky with a hoodie attached.

2) Ripped Jeans

Ripped Denim Loose Pants
Ooh... am starting to get sucked into this ripped jeans trend. Kinda like this loose fit cut as it's nice and casual to match with a casual sweater or tee. You can also dress it up with a structured jacket or biker jacket and stilettos to channel that inner rock chick in you!!

High Waist Ripped Denim White Pants
High waisted pants, funny enough I have discovered, actually is perfect for those of us who are slightly conscious of our waistlines or tummy area. It actually conceals this slight imperfection rather than accentuate it. So try this style for a change and with the slim cutting it naturally highlights the length of your legs.

3) Knit

Grey Long Sleeve Casual Dress
I personally love this casual dress style as it's trendy, stylish and again something you can dress up or down by pairing your accessories carefully. A sucker for grey ( the new black) I envision this dress as something you can knock around in - comfy and chic.

Long Sleeve Casual Knit Blue Cardigan
I hardly own long knit dresses or cardigans. However fashion is all about exploring and this Fall I intend to try and style long knit cardigans, vests and dresses. I think this will look really cool with black jeans/ pants and booties.

4) Dresses

V Neck Floral Slim Dress
If I am not mistaken, this beautiful maxi dress was on sale but what a perfect outfit with the V neckline which is so slimming. The wrap style aka DVF dresses which spells elegance, long sleeves and the maxi length for the colder nights is just ideal for Fall. Pair it with a longer cardigan and you have a nice evening outfit to go out to town with.

Army Green Long Sleeve Dress
Again, loving this colour for Fall and breaking away from the standard greys, blacks or navy blues which are usally Winter favourite colours. The long sleeves gives this dress that vintage appeal yet the shorter hemline to trend in cooler weather is a nice change especially in places with milder winter or even milder Fall weather.

Long Sleeve Peplum Hem Suede Khaki Dress
Available in Khaki or Grey, this suede dress would be so ideal for Fall and heading into Winter. Suede is a much sought after fabric for Fall/Winter 2015 and likewise  the happy peplum hemline. I somehow prefer the Khaki colour to the grey.

Lace Layered Assymetrical Dress in Green
Before you scream "Green!! No way!"", this pastel apple green lace dress was screaming "Givenchy"to me as soon as I saw it online. The subtle apple green is actually very refreshing for Spring Summer and I would think for those of you in tropical climate - this dress would be nice for your year end parties. If you have been following the recent NYFW trends and styles for 2016, Givenchy's take on SS 2016 was all about lingerie style and lace.  This bohemian take on lace dresses would be perfect to trend for SS 2016 - so it's definitely on my wishlist!

Color Block Sleeveless with Mesh Pleat Dress
Christian Dior was such an inspiration for Car Wash Pleats for Fall/Autumn 2015. So when I saw this lovely colour block dress in nude/ black combination - I immediately said "Yes ! This is perfect". The peek a boo pleat of the dress is its unique feature and its colour combination is perfect for those elegant year end parties as well.

5) Shoes

Black Stiletto Ankle Strap Sanda
Believe you me, I have been looking for a nice pair of Black Stiletto Heels with very thin and minimum straps for awhile. I know this is not a new style however finding the right pair with the right fit, and heel height was kinda difficult for me. Battling whether to get an all leather or a suede pair is another factor. But for what it's worth, I think this pair is gorgeous and perfect to match with the ripped jeans or the dresses I have highlighted above. Just Divine!!!

Black Pointy Zipper Side Stiletto Boots
OMG!!! The red lacquered soles and faux leather upper just screams "LOUBOUTIN" to me! I think this pair of boots would be perfect for Fall/Winter with skirts, jeans, pants... you name it - a versatile pair of boots to own!

6) Jackets

Brown Long Sleeve Lapel Jacket
With almost a 50% discount on this item, it's practically a no brainer. Everyone needs a suede jacket in their closet for Fall / Winter. I particularly like this crop jacket style and in brown - it is a piece one can easily mix and match for the season.

Black Stand Collar Oblique Jacket
Without a doubt, a must-have item in any fashionista's wardrobe! A black leather ( or faux leather) crop biker jacket. I like the detailing on the sides, cuffs and shoulder of this jacket. Unique and yet elegant in its own way. Another must buy!!

Of course there are SOOOO many other items I could have picked out from this online store - with sales happening up to 50% and more - it's practically a steal for some of these hot items. Before you go mistaking that I am being sponsored by the company - well I am NOT! It's just a wishlist I have put together seeing its a newly discovered online store for myself and I am looking at purchasing these items very soon. So my opinions and selections here are 100% mine and unbiased.

To tickle your tastebuds a little more before I sign off, do note that ROMWE is offering a STOREWIDE special discount during this promotion period which ends on 28 September 2015.
