Hi everyone,

I can't believe it's already the last weekend before Christmas 2019! How quick time flies and on hindsight how much has happened over the year. Unfortunately for our family, we had recently received news of my father -in-law's passing whilst we were out on a recent holiday. Hence Christmas this year will be a subdued and sad one. At the ripe age of 95 years young, he had lived a good life and went peacefully in his sleep with my Mom-in-law by his side and that is all that matters.

He will always be remembered as one of the greatest Circus Ringmasters, Regisseurs and performers of his time having stemmed from a very rich circus history, family and tradition. He will surely be missed!!

With this change of events, it again reminds us what the true meaning of Christmas is. It's about family, about giving, about Love! Christmas is celebrated not only by Christians worldwide but by many others of different religious believes. Perhaps it has been commercialised to become a shopping and holiday event however for me, Christmas is about rebirth and new life. We need to be reminded to always be thankful for what we have, a spirit of giving ( not just presents) but rather to help those in need. This year, I had made an extra effort to buy some sleeping bags to assist the homeless in the UK. It may not be many and may not be the perfect answer to their problems but at least it'll mean a warmer Christmas for a couple of people and remember, charity begins somewhere. One person can still make a huge difference to the lives of others.

This Christmas, I have not spent any money on new outfits - and this beautiful green dress which is already sold out on Shein, was something I found again, tucked away, never worn in my closet. In the perfect shade for Christmas Green, the polka dot pattern and the off shoulder neckline fits perfectly for a tropical Christmas. I felt I looked like a Christmas tree myself! Paired this with a vintage bag I found amongst mom's old handbags and this lovely pair of The Tui Collection shoes which are so versatile and comfortable to mix and match with. Wooden earrings from Rattan Zakka finished and completed the whole look.

The last picture is of me and one of my besties @lozzybethlife, who is visiting from Australia and in perfect time to cheer me up after all that transpired recently. Her beautiful Christmas gift which she got me from Australia ( Frida Kahlo Vase) certainly help put a big smile on my face when I received it. I have been eyeing this vase for the longest time!

Whilst the pain and memories of losing loved ones recently - the loss of my Dad last July 2018, then came Cookie my cocker of 14.5 yrs in August 2019 and now my father in law in December 2019,  it will be so hard to forget and get over with,  but I believe time will heal the pain and the missing.

In the meantime, may I ask you for this Christmas to make it a point to do something different, something meaningful, something for someone else who needs it and you will truly then live in the true meaning of Christmas. Do share with me in the comments below what you will be doing different this Christmas for someone else.

Last but not least, do also check out my IGTV video below on Holiday Outfit Ideas which I had put together to inspire you to mix and match again with items from your wardrobe to create perfect holiday looks to trend. Enjoy!!

Happy Christmas everyone,
Simone xoxo

Festive Blues

Dress : Elliat ( get it here) // Bag : Dresslily // Earrings : Lovisa //
Ring : Chanel // Shoes : Saks 5th Avenue

The last day of 2018 yet just 6 days into the 12 days of Christmas, we prepare to welcome 2019 with a big bang!

Have you made your new year resolutions yet? If you have been following me closely in my blog, you will have realised 2018 has been such a difficult year for me, and so I truly can't wait for the turn of the clock and turn of the luck for me in 2019.

This beautiful dress by Australian Designer -  Elliat was a perfect choice to ring in the festive season. Theatrical, dramatic , whimsical even but with a ladylike touch. I love how this dress flows on me, and the high collar is such a throwback to Elizabethan times where it resonates the feeling of pomp and glamour.

I love the lace bodice of this dress and the slim cut that fans out to a mermaid tale. Wore it without the off shoulder lace sleeves, letting it hang under the arm instead of on the arm. Felt it flattered me more worn this way.

Hoping 2019 will bring me this whimsical and fantasy world with only happy dreams and tales, I wish all of you a great countdown to the festivities for the New Year and wishing you all a healthy and successful 2019!!

Love,
Simone xoxo

It's A Wonderful Christmas Time!

One more day to go before Christmas Day! Are you all set and ready to roll?

Trending several different looks for the countdown to Christmas 2018 ( please check out my other posts here & here) I must admit jumpsuits were certainly not a first choice I would go for, especially for a glammed up evening. However this green jumpsuit I got online definitely had the hint of Christmas if I paired it right. So I threw on an old pair of gold glitter heels, gold accessories and immediately those nostalgic feelings of Christmas started to flow making it quite the right choice as soon as I stood by the beautiful and tall Christmas tree at the lobby of the Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre Singapore.

Sad to say, many businesses here in Singapore, including our main stropping strip of Orchard Road, have gone so commercial during this period and losing the true essence of Christmas in their commercialised, horrendous festive decorations. All screaming sponsorhip  but NOTHING about the true meaning of Christmas.

So boy am I certainly glad to see a large traditional Christmas tree and decorations at this hotel, with presents and snowman at its foot. Things I remember Christmas being about as a kid in terms of decorations and NOT Disney characters! (Yikes!!) The hotel certainly kept it simple with traditional decorations like reindeer, santa claus, bells, baubles and pine cones making it a perfect setup to wow and woo in their guests both locals and international ones alike. For me,  I certainly could not resist taking a few shots for my Christmas memories.

Back to my outfit, this look is perfect with a thicker overcoat for those of you in wintry climates ( how I wish I could have trend it with a nice thick and lush faux fur coat), thinner outerwear for slightly warmer but yet still cool and nippy climates like Hong Kong, Florida and other parts of Asia, and of course going just with the jumpsuit in it's own glamour -  for us here in the tropics.

Enjoy this look and stay tuned for more on my Christmas outfit coming up soon!

Wishing one and all a very Merry and Blessed Christmas 2018!!

Love,
Simone xoxo

Tis The Season

The first of the festive looks for the season. Trolling through Instagram, many influencers are posting Christmas looks all bundled up in their winter wear and nice overcoats. However some of us are spending Christmas either in the tropics or in the south where we are hit with hottest of summers or the rainy monsoon season.

So here's a take on Christmas in the tropics with an outfit inspiration to draw on that festive Christmas mood, yet cool enough for the warmer, humid weather.

I love this beautiful tiered layered skirt from Haute Rogue, available on Style Theory, SG. The tiered layers certainly reminds me much of a Christmas tree and it definitely brings on that element of festivity to the outfit. Pairing it with a red top seals the deal on a Christmas inspired outfit. Simply love this combination of red and grey.

The neoprene material of the skirt helps keep the shape and to be honest it is not an easy skirt to pull off if you are not one to be daring in your style as it certainly makes one stand out in the crowd.

For those out in colder climates, this skirt rock this look with a twist on pairings e.g pair it with a red turtle neck, beautiful grey overcoat, knee high  grey boots and a stylish beret! Oh how I wish I could deck myself out for the cold climate to showcase 2 styles you can trend with this inspiration.

Meanwhile, enjoy!!
