Fall 2012 Fashion Trends - Black & Blue

Saturday, September 29, 2012 Anonymous 0 Comments

Happy weekend everyone!

Start of a new week ahead, start of fresh ideas moving forward. Can't believe we are already into FALL season. Have just launched the first of a series of Autumn Rhapsody collection for Foster Bay and therefore had the recent opportunity to review the fashion trends for this A/W 2012 season.

I am sure you all will agree with me that here in Asia where for most of us the weather pretty much stays constant on " Summer " mode and wierd enough it's getting more humid as we are supposedly heading into our monsoon season year end. So here are some tips and ideas to wear Fall 2012 Fashion trends in our climate.

To start the first of my series of " Fall 2012 Fashion Trends", let's explore the "Black & Blue" trend.

Black & Blue
Sultry yet elegant in it's colour combination. It certainly makes a strong impact when mixed and matched correctly. This trend for 2012 is best played out with a darker shade of blue i.e navy blue than cobalt or royal blue.

So go have fun mix and matching your current items in the wardrobe to trend in the latest Blue & Black colour combi!

If you have any ideas to share for styling this blue & black trend, do drop me an email or comment.

Fall into Line - Army Green & Black

Saturday, September 15, 2012 Anonymous 0 Comments

Hi ! Hope you guys are off to a good start for the weekend.

Since we are into Fall, I am starting to rummage through my wardrobe for more muted tones to wear but yet bearing in mind our tropical Singapore climate, fabrics that are cool enough for the humid weather yet warm enough for those chilling offices and malls.

I have to apologise first for the creases on my outfit as you can see from the pics below - Cookie, the dog just kept trying to get in the pic and we were actually playing ball prior so you can imagine
the slight mess I was in but that's life!
No one ever walks around in crease free/ wrinkle free outfits especially when you have pets and kids!

Top : Her Velvet Vase ( old)
Pants : ZARA ( old)
Bag : Foster Bay's Plaited Shopper Bag ( similar here)

Earrings  & Ring : Birthday Gift ( similar here  & here)
Enjoy your weekend ahead!

Duke & Duchess of Cambridge Visit to Singapore - showcasing Prabal Gurung

Wednesday, September 12, 2012 Anonymous 0 Comments

Hi everyone,

The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge are here in Singapore !
Today, 12 September 2012, would be their 2nd day in the Garden City and already the main newspapers in the UK and the rest of the world have highlighted the Duchess's fashion choices for her first trip to the Far East.

Katherine Middleton - Duchess of Cambridge
in Prabal Gurung's Spring 2012 Dress
So why this choice of dress for her maiden trip to Singapore?
Well, Prabal Gurung was born in Singapore, though raised in Nepal and now based in USA. Hence many have dubbed this a diplomatic, smart and fitting choice of designer outfit to wear for her first State Dinner in Singapore. Furthermore Prabal Gurung's Spring 2012 collection was inspired by Araki's Sensual Flowers series, thereby making it an ideal choice for the Garden City.

Well Gurung was so honoured and elated that he immediately tweeted
“OMG!!! Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton in our spring 12 dress!
So xctd that I just stopped some strangers on the street n showed them the pic of
Kate Middleton in our dress.””

The likes of Hollywood celebrities who are great fans of Gurung are Sarah Jessica Parker, Zoe Saldana, Kate Bosworth, Hailee Steinfeld and Amanda Seyfried to name but a few....
as well as America's First Lady - Michelle Obama.

Given the kind of influence the Duchess has on designers and outfits she wears
this immediately puts Gurung now more prominently on the world map of the
fashion industry and is certainly an Asian designer everyone will be watching closely for 2013.

Gurung had just showed at the New York's Fashion Week for his Spring 2013 collection.
The Look for 2013 is about a futuristic fairytale which is both enchanting
and slightly wicked.

In this collection you will find silk layers under snug jackets with crystal embroidery,
crop pants and silk shorts, contrast waistbands as well as studs, feather or
crystal details for his mix and match pieces and dresses.

Similarly freakish to his Spring 2012 collection where most of the flower motifs when
closely inspected shows them withering, for Spring 2013 dresses,
Gurung uses graphic organza inserts and showcases extraordinary flowers
dripping blood.
The main colour palette is of black, white and with shades of red.

This is certainly a designer I will be following closely and incorporating his styles
into my upcoming collections at Foster Bay.

Love,
Simone

H&M with Anna Della Russo & Maison Martin Margiela Collaboration Fall/ Winter 2012

Tuesday, September 11, 2012 Anonymous 0 Comments

Hello!

Having been a follower of some of H&M's favourite designer collaborations, I am definitely waiting for this much raved about collaboration with Anna Della Russo and Maison Martin Margiela on Oct 4 and Nov 15 respectively.

For those of you not too familiar with Anna Della Russo - she is a well known Fashion Director, editor-at-large for Vogue Japan as well as being famously known as a Style Icon in the Fashion world. Therefore this collaboration is H&M's first foray into working with an icon rather than just a fashion designer and is solely focused on a 50 piece Accessories Collection comprising of jewelry, sunglasses, shoes and travel bags inspired by her vintage assortment of baubles and accessories. This collection encompasses decorative pieces with gold ornate details with an infusion of Mediterranean flair. We also love Anna Della Russo for her sense of style which screams " Be Different!"

Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most influential fashion houses of Paris of which is was founded by Martin Margiela, known for his edgy aesthetics. This surprising collaboration with the publicity shy, ex-Creative Director of Hermes is a big step forward bringing much public awareness to the French label.

Still in Love with Peplum...Are You?

Sunday, September 09, 2012 Anonymous 2 Comments

Happy Sunday everyone!

I am back with my fashion posts again. With FALL coming into season, we are slowly moving away from summer prints and colours, into more muted prints, tones and styles.

However one trend that surfaced in S/S 2012 which I am simply in love with and have full confidence that it'll be a trend to stay for awhile is the Peplum. Be it incorporated into a top, skirt and now even as a belt, it is a trend worth investing in. And may I add, it is certainly a  most flattering trend, which compliments most body types, from Sz 0 to a plus size. This flared retro style not only enhances curves in a flattering way, it also magically helps to hide one of women's most most problem areas -  the bulging tummy!

The strong play of my combination colours of orange against the dark blue jeans certainly reminds me of a warm summer sunset. Evokes beautiful memories.

Have a great week ahead!

Love,
Simone xoxo

Lioele - Secret Rich Pore Balm & Triple The Solution BB Cream

Friday, September 07, 2012 Anonymous 0 Comments

Hi Everyone,

Was recently given these 2 items as a birthday gift and was I amazed at the results and vowed to write a post on it so others who have similar skin conditions as mine will benefit from my experience.

LIOELE SECRET PORE RICH BALM

The first product is the LIOELE SECRET PORE RICH BALM which works fantastically as a pore reducer and primer for your makeup application. Keeping it simple here are the pros I found with this item:
  • Has a smooth powdery feel when applied.
  • Not oily, greasy or heavy
  • Blends easily like powder and covers the pores and wrinkle lines
  • Particularly effective over oilier T-Zone areas.

LIOELE - TRIPLE THE SOLUTION BB CREAM
Like many of you, I have also tried and tested a few famous brands on the market for BB Cream. However I have found after a period of time using a certain product, it somehow does not provide me the same coverage it initially did ( no idea why?). So, I was obviously sceptical with this product as it has made claims like the many others how there, but was I amazed again - especially when used in combination with the Secret Rich Pore Balm.
  •  Acts as an all-in-one moisturiser, cover up, sunblock and foundation.
  • Provides a good coverage especially over pigmentation and uneven skin tones.
  • Best to apply at least 2 layers for more obvious uneven skin tone areas.
  • Does not have skin tone colour options, however it easily settles and blends in to your skin tone colour. Still ideal for fairer to medium tan skin types.
  • Pump bottle top allows the control of amount on the fingers and prevents wastage.
  • Smoothens out and blends easily.
Picture not of me, however result is similar.

So once I had applied these products and finished off with a light powder coverup, I was able to go out and take a few shots of my OOTD.

Top : Lace Blouse by Princess
Skirt : WAREHOUSE

Clutch : Foster Bay
Wooden Wedges : Jipaban
Ring : The Quiet Riot

I liked the back of this blouse which help me to trend the polka dot trend for FALL 2012 subtly. The cute peter pan lace collar added that extra feminine touch to a simple blouse.

Have a great weekend ahead!

Love,
Simone
