Flame Of The Forest

Hi everyone.

Happy Monday and still very much into my love for prints, today I would  like to showcase the "Flame Of The Forest" skirt by @naladesigns. This skirt is available at The Wyld Shop@Joo Chiat here in Singapore. 100% cotton, this full swing circle skirt is perfect for the tropical weather and it does exude that 1950s retro vibe. If you are following me on Instagram you would have noticed this skirt styled slightly differently with a black top on my IG feed recently.

Playing on the brown hues on the skirt, I toned this look down with a white shirt, but continued to build on making the skirt stand out as a statement with statement accessories such as the bucket bag in a camel tone shade.

On a separate note, I had fun doing this post at The Tuckshop where the funky retro decor works well with the outfit. I love the canteen style seating where the chairs flip out for easy getting in and out suspended by industrial style pipes - certainly an eye opener on such quirky designs.

Above here is another example on how to wear this skirt. A simple outfit with a statement pattern that  reminds me much of bold African prints ( another craze I am after at the moment). The bolder the pattern and colours, the more attracted I am and you can see how one can play it down or emphasise the prints by mixing with a different coloured top. Here, I love how the black makes the prints stand out even more and so kept the accessories more of the same colour palette as my top so that one only focuses on  the skirt yet feel the richness of the whole combination as black is always a sophisticated colour to pair with.

So, tell me which is your favourite?

Love,
Simone xoxo

Flower Fantasy Jumpsuit

Hi everyone.

Going through some magazines that's been stacking up on the side of my desk, I finally found some time today to go through them and indeed, I was not wrong to figure out many a couture and designer houses are all gaining inspirations from the retro phase, e.g Christian Dior and Gucci... to name a few.

This therefore continued my fascination and inspiration to continue posting looks that is kinda retro in style, if not for the outfit style, at least for the prints and patterns.

This 2 way jumpsuit from Alice McCall is aptly named the " Stop and Stare " jumpsuit and rightfully so. The loud floral print and the sweetheart neckline style of the jumpsuit certainly is something from the 1970s - 1980s and I love the ruffle sleeves which can double up as an off shoulder piece or a shoulder strap.

If you have been following me on Instagram, you would have realised that Mom had boxes full of retro clip on earrings which I gladly picked and choose to find that perfect match and this pink pair was certainly the cherry on the top to complete the look.

Here's a sneak peek of the earrings I was talking about.

Doesn't this remind of you a kid in a candy store! Enjoy!!

The Color Purple

Happy Weekend everyone! Now that I managed to get the boy back to school after being away for a week nursing a bad viral flu cum infection, I could finally squeeze some time to bring  you more beautiful Indian jewellery from Blue Iris.

This handcrafted, brass single stone cuff is so exquisite with it's coloured stone and intricate floral design. I love how this one statement piece totally brightened up my purple dress from Emilio Pucci.

I had this dress for years in my wardrobe and hardly wore it, but all it took was this beautiful jewellery piece to bring it out of the closet for me!

With blush/ pink being the rage at the moment, I paired my favourite pink bucket bag with blush suede heels to complete this look.

Black Lace Dress

A knock on the door this weekend brought me a pretty black dress from Dresslily. I had to try it on immediately and decided to style this as a year end inspiration for you for office parties and Christmas gatherings.

With it's high collar and conservative style, to stand out from the crowd ( as you know me by now - more is more!)  I decided to funk up this look with large loop fishnet stockings to give this dress a little twist.

Having watched " Say Yes To The Dress" several times, it always seems like a belt would do the trick to finish off and complete the look for those lovely bridal gowns. So taking on this cue,  I threw on this stretchable black belt with gold interlock clasp and paired it with my glitter party gold slingbacks for the completed year end office party look!

To be safe, a black clutch or gold bag would likely be the obvious choice but I could not resist adding a little pop of colour with this pretty bucket bag in blue. I love the circular wooden handle and it does also come with a long chain strap for those cocktail events where you need your hands to hold that lovely glass of champagne and munch on canapes.

Thank you to all at Dresslily for this lovely outfit and I certainly will be wearing this dress with different styling this holiday season.

Floral Playsuit

Fall is here. Well .... not in Singapore but I was presuming that we would start to get slightly cooler temperatures ( at least in the late 20s) and certainly more rain. To the contrary it just keeps getting hotter and more humid and it feels like it's Summer re-inventing itself all over again!

Never one to be keen on playsuits or rompers as it's so troublesome to take them on and off when we head to the ladies room but somehow it has an understated elegance attached to it. This was a nice casual, floral piece from good old Cotton On and it was not too fussy to have to deal with in the restrooms.

The frill and ruffled hemline makes it extra playful and I love how the fabric is non crease so it's lovely to take on resort trips etc. Naturally it would be nice to pair this with flat sandals but here's giving this look a little twist with statement earrings/ accessories and wedges.
