Plain, simple with clean lines were never really my cup of tea when it comes to my fashion sense. If you have been following me for awhile, you will realise I am a person who loves textures, patterns, non structured lines  and more so colours. and unique touches to an outfit. It had to be something that stood out on its own. However as I always preach, Fashion is all about experimenting and sometimes diverging away from our set and comfortable sense of style. To try a new trend, to work a new style...

And so this time, having what I would deem as a demure Japanese style where clothing items are often subdued, clean and pretty earthly in terms of colour, I got myself a couple of pieces from The Editor's Market  whose shopping catalogue is pretty much in line with this type of style. I wanted to try something different and the outfits ( majority of them anyways) look very comfortable for me to knock around in on a regular school day running between errands, school, walking the dogs, grocery shopping and perhaps sneaking in a quick cuppa with a girlfriend. To be honest I was getting sick of the t-shirt and jeans / culottes / shorts combo.

I love this comfortable Ilisa Bib Dress and I particularly chose a light and easy to match colour this time to see how I can work this simplified look. It was not really me - not loud enough, not flamboyant enough and certainly not " outstanding" enough in my terms but I tried to bring this outfit up a notch with my hat and kept the look a little fun  with my animal print slides - all keeping within the earthy tone of this outfit. Of course the model online paired it with ankle boots which was a nice funky touch but certainly not for me in a 35 degree heat!

I must say it was very very comfortable and perhaps having ordered from them online for the first time, I  was not too sure on their sizing and so perhaps a size smaller in future would be more fitting however donning a tank top underneath to maintain my modesty ( "clearing throat....") it was a nice touch to keep it casual. I intentionally did not want to add a belt in order to keep the look real, wide and comfortable as it should be but perhaps seeing its in a size up for my liking, I would certainly style this dress in a different way soon the next time I put it on ( so watch this space).

Overall, my take on this new style of mine is free and easy and certainly a nice Spring outfit to trend.
Hope you enjoyed this look and post.

Love,
Simone xoxo

It's A Wrap !

Top : Forever 21 // Pants : D.D Collective // Bag :  Staud // Earrings : Zaful  // Shoes : Zara

Hi everyone and how was your recent Valentine's Day celebrations?

Being married for 18 years going on 19, we started getting practical with Valentine's Day. Just the thought of having to pay double / triple the prices at restaurants just because of a date does not rest well with us older folks, and so we decided to stay home this year and whipped up a quiet home cooked dinner.  Nonetheless, I hope for those of you who are still out there in the dating scene, Valentine's Day did bring you much surprises and joy! ( And lovely gifts to add!).

Whilst many of you were busy dolling up for your romantic evenings,  I was getting down and dirty Marie Kondo-ing my kitchen and my son's room! It's driving me nuts and certainly the shops especially our good old Daiso ( $2 Japanese store) is enjoying the sudden increase in business from The Fosters as I hop in and out throughout the week with bags full of storage boxes for me to complete my Konmari organisation.

For those of you not familiar with what I am talking about, Marie Kondo is this really petite Japanese lady in America that goes to regular people's homes to help them reorganise their houses and uses the KonMari method of organising. The main thing about the effectiveness of the organisation method is ONLY to keep items that " spark joy" in one's lives. Everything else should be relooked and we need to learn how to let go. Another thing that strikes out in her Netflix series is that she makes sure she " greets" the home before she starts reorganising. This spiritual aspect did take me a little by surprise since these are after all objects with no life / soul but I can appreciate where she is coming from. Indeed it is a very different experience as to regular home organisers and it does motivate me to do the same. Stay tuned to this blog where I will update you on how I have worked reorganising my home.

In the meantime, let's head back to this lovely wrap pants from D.D Collective. A cute and quirky style and I love the burnt orange hue. This lovely floral top from Forever 21 which I had stashed well at the back of my wardrobe resurfaced again whilst I was busy organising things and so I thought it was a good pairing with the pants. Of course to add some colour, these lovely kitten heel V front pumps from Zara says it all and a nice bucket bag to finish the look!

So stay tune my friends and I will share with you how I managed to Marie Kondo my place.

Love,
Simone xoxo

Toga Style In Spring

DRESS : Isabelle Blanche // POUCH : Zara // Shoes : Ria Menorca // Earrings : Shein

Toga dresses and tops are pretty sexy styles to work with. Somehow it highlights the shoulders subtly which makes it more attractive rather than a total off shoulder top. Therefore this number from Isabelle Blanche ( available on Style Theory) is a pretty choice for those casual weekends. Need to take it up a notch, then dress it up with heels and a gorgeous clutch and you have yourself a nice dinner outfit to work with.

I love how often toga style outfits would either be in prints or bold colours and this  number in checks and frills does give it a little edgy twist to a standard toga dress.

I paired this look with a hipster fanny pack to keep it casual and closed it off with my favourite go to glitter wedges from Ria Menorca.

The yellow and black stripe combination is also pretty unique and what better way to accent that colour combination with my matching pair of rectangle earrings in that exact colour.

I hope you enjoyed this Spring look especially for those of you in the tropics or southern hemisphere which you can start trending now where the weather is perfect for such styles.

Enjoy!!

Love,
Simone xoxo
