Grown Up Gingham :: Gingham Ruffle Dress + Bucket Bag

Hi everyone. A quick outfit post today as I sit nervously by the TV watching the updates on Hurricane Irma pounding Florida.

As some of you know, our home is in Sarasota, Florida and my in-laws in their late 80s and early 90s are there on their own braving the storm and being so old, they have decided to weather it through and pray for the best seeing they are in Evacuation Zone C. We are certainly hoping they will be well and have been in non-stop contact with them.

Having also hurt my ankle badly this last week, it was tough hobbling around and therefore this was a quick outfit shot and as you can see, my bandaged ankle present in all it's glory in this post. Have been wearing ONLY flats for the last 2 weeks and it's not fun. I believe I had torn a ligament and the swelling is indeed taking awhile to subside.

Back to the outfit, gingham is definitely a trending hit in summer and from the recent Fashion Week highlights, we can see this trend continuing for 2018. I love this cool, lightweight summer gingham dress with its statement ruffles. Cute in a way, girly and so feminine. Looking to style it with a skirt or perhaps even pants for a different look.

Thanks for reading and sorry this was a quick post. Our thoughts and prayers are certainly for all who are affected by this massive Hurricane, not only in Florida but also in Cuba and the islands.

Take A Bow :: Classic White Shirt and Pencil Skirt

A good Friday again to all of you.

It's been a good Easter break and managed to get lots of stuff sorted out - throwing out and giving away old clothes and items I rarely use in the closet. Packing away all winter stuff as the weather starts to warm up here in Hong Kong and more so, clearing junk I have put aside thinking I will need or use them someday but obviously that doesn't happen. So clearing these items helps me clear my mind at the same time.

Do you ever feel that way too? Somehow when your life is cluttered with things, your head seems cluttered as well. Once that is reorganised, so is your life ( ...in general that is).

Put together this look as part of my "Pairings" video recently released, and realised that often many of my readers would love to have more closer viewings of these look, since usually in a video, it is so time restrictive and sometimes not in HD as I would like it to be. Therefore am also blogging on these same looks for you to have a better feel of the items.

This is a great look for work, where conservative as it may seem with the hemline and button up collar, but funky with the bold accessories of the large bow-tie and the jumbo bag. Continuing that gold and black metallic touch with a statement belt, this ties in the look together with or without a blazer thrown over.

Keeping the accessories simple and few, to allow them to individually stand out and " make" this outfit.

Stay tuned for the next post of trending a fringe skirt for Summer. Till then, take care!!

New Tuxedo Style :: Tailored Shirt & Full Midi Skirt

Happy New Year everyone!

As much as there were happy and pleasant memories for 2014, but I  am seriously glad that 2014 is over and looking forward to 2015 with the hope of a new start to life. Too many tragic happenings in the world in 2014 where many innocent lives were lost, and personally I have had to deal with a bunch of negative and horrible people who believe that animal life is cheap compared to their material things. Certainly a behaviour I can never condone and I am certainly writing them off in my life. Not worth considering to bury the hatchet as a hypocrite I am not, therefore life goes on.

So to ring in the new year heading out for lunch, a feminine and fun twist to a Tuxedo Style outfit was my choice. Monochrome black and white is a classic style and this look had a strong " Marilyn Monroe meets Audrey Hepburn" vibe to it.

Love this 1950s style structured neoprene midi skirt ( I had mentioned it in my last Youtube Video " Mini Zara Haul and Accessory Pairings for Winter " - so go check it out) as it's such an ideal travel item to take along ( non-crease) and perfect for dressing up or down with.Threw on a leather biker jacket for cooler weather outside.

Love pairing this skirt with a tailored dress shirt - simple yet elegant. And you can even glam it up further with a statement necklace or a bustier top over the shirt for a different look and feel.

Had fun twirling my skirt in between serious shots! The Zara red mid heel court shoes always adds that punch of colour to a basic black and white outfit.

The necklaces were both Xmas gifts. The shorter necklace was from my bestie and the Karma Necklace was from my mom-in-law. Taking this outfit up a notch is my pave bracelet and glitter quilted bag which adds the much needed bling to this classic do. Love it!

Here's wishing all of you success in achieving your New Year Resolutions and may 2015 bring you a year of true friendships to last a lifetime, happiness, success, good health and happy surprises!

Check Mate :: Plaid Boxy Coat & Floppy Hat

Hi everyone.

Spent the last couple of days playing around with trial videos to learn how to edit them, add music and captions, but more importantly to be able to make a video that reflects ME ! Research is always important and whilst I was trawling through Youtube ( I will be honest to admit I hardly go onto Youtube to watch Vlogs) something disturbing popped up and now it's making me think twice.

I will get to that bit later on in this post but in the meantime, as you have seen from my last post - I am beginning to enjoy trending hats. So here's another Fall / Winter  look you could be inspired with.

Was one of those mornings where you dress for warmer weather and suddenly it starts to get cloudy and windy. So threw on this boxy coat and wore my trusted wedge sneakers from Zara to keep warm. Not forgetting a nice floppy hat to keep the hair in place and my head warm from the chilling winds.

This Fall / Winter 2014, I have been gravitating towards Boxy Jackets and Coats. Something about this structure that gives a little element of that runway feel to outfits otherwise simple or lame if paired with a regular cardigan.

Always been a lover of adding red accents to black, so no surprise this time with my YSL inspired bag that I nicked off my mom some years back and another beloved item from my closet ( which you probably have noticed me trending a few times in my blog) - my Rue 21 jeans for US$ 10!!

So back to my initial fears about starting to Vlog or do Youtube videos. You see, whilst researching how others edit their videos or simply learning how to Vlog, I came across particularly  two very successful and inspiring Vloggers - Eleventhgorgeous and Zoella who I thought are so good in what they do and obviously they are so down to earth people that resulted in their many subscribers or followers.

Unfortunately just of late, they have been " victimised" if I can use that word, from hate comments and people who simply perhaps are jealous of their successes and either getting Youtube to strike them ( as in the case of Eleventhgorgeous) or for Zoella, where she was put down by many horrid hate comments resulting in her breakdown and having to take time off from Vlogging. This is utterly sad because even as a new follower of Vlogs, I personally enjoyed their videos and each and everyone of their videos had their own personality coming through. They were not fake nor trying too hard or got overwhelmed by their sponsors that their vlogs became simply another ad for a product. I will be honest to admit some of their videos were even good Pick Me Ups for those gloomier days. My take on on all this is that, if you do not like their style / personality or what they are doing - just DON'T FOLLOW them or view their Vlogs. SIMPLE!! What do you gain by continuing to view their videos, and then only to leave hate comments?

So with that said, I am concern to be " exposed" in that manner but I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it. Blogging and soon to be Vlogging, will always be a hobby I enjoy and seriously, if you do not like my style or what I have to say - then please move on.

Till then, for my great supporters, do continue to keep your positive comments, requests and don't forget your final entries coming in for the Michael Kors US$ 300 Gift Card Giveaway and  do watch this space for the next exciting giveaway coming your way soon.

Love,
Simone xoxo
