Frills and Tweed

I do miss dressing for the seasons since moving back to Singapore from Hong Kong. So whilst I envy and watch my fellow influencers style Fall's trends throughout Instagram, here I am still in summer outfits with the weather being so hot and humid all year round.

But alas, the slightly cooler weather has descended upon us here in the tropics. With recent daily showers, it certainly help cool the heat and humidity that was running stagnant at a very hot 35 - 36 degrees daily for the last couple of weeks. And so to my delight, I am now able to style my tweed ( albeit sleeveless) jacket as well as this slightly warmer, covered up sleeveless top with feathered frills. To add that extra va-va voom to finish off this look, pair it with high waisted stylish ladies pants which is so on point for Fall 2018.

The dead giveaway are my peep toe clear slip ons which are so comfortable with it's block heel and at a reasonable height that adds that chic touch to an otherwise casual outfit.

Baker boy caps are another fall favourite this year and this headgear style works well with my recent pixie cut hairstyle. I must say it was quite hard trying to get a nice hat/ cap that suits me now that my hair is so short but this one worked for me for sure.

Five Ways To Wear Plaid This Fall

Outfit : Shein ( get it here) // Earrings : (get it here) // Cuff : old ( similar here)
Shoes : Forever 21 ( similar here & here) // Bag : ZARA ( sold out, similar here)

Are you feeling it yet? Seriously if you are on Instagram, you will notice almost every influencer / blogger is actively trending Fall's most coveted pattern - Plaid! It comes in various styles : checks, gingham, tartan, houndstooth etc..

I had recently styled a checkered jumpsuit ( check out post here), however whilst the rage is still on for all types of plaid, here's another number to tickle your tastebuds.

This off shoulder piece from Shein has a pretty feminine touch to otherwise a "manly" pattern so to speak. I love the double breasted front and the chic showing of the shoulders that takes this look up a notch from boring-dom.

Remember that with trends you can always play with it - it need not be in a full outfit like this one, but sometimes in terms of either a top or bottom piece, outerwear or even accessories.

Here are some fun ideas for you to play with plaid that won't break your bank / wallet :

1) Outerwear

2) Top

3) Bottom

4) Shoes / Boots

5) Bags

I hope you enjoyed the tips above and do share with me your thoughts on plaid this fall!

Fun Ways to Wear Leopard Print Trend

Whilst some of you had jumped on the bandwagon of trending animal prints this Fall, others may be a little apprehensive as it can be a little too much to put on a full outfit of leopard prints.

Don't get me wrong - I love leopard prints and animal prints like snake prints however, I was cautious this time around to invest in a full blown leopard print piece seeing that it's one of those " come and go" trends that turn around in a heartbeat. So, I decided to put this outfit together, getting into the whole trend of leopard prints but wearing it subtly in terms of pieces rather than a full outfit.

Found the perfect match in these beautiful faux fur pumps and belt and these leopard print drop earrings I had stashed away at the back of my earring drawer.

Moral of the story :: You certainly do not need to follow trends blindly but twist it to match your needs and the appropriateness of the climate you are in.

Tell me what you think of this trend and how you would style this look? Have fun playing with the leopard print trend!
