Hi everyone,

Thank you for still sticking by and following me although I needed to take a much needed break from blogging as my life was just going in so many directions especially with Covid. One would think that I would have more time to be blogging but on the contrary, I got busier with collaborations especially for Instagram which I am most active on, for all my social media accounts.

Aside from that, my personal styling consults were getting more enquiries and I am now also the In-House stylist for one of the most prominent vintage clothing stores in Singapore. Styling people have always been such a fun experience but working with vintage wear - that's a whole other ball game as not many stylists are working in that direction. Most are focused on workwear, casual wear and outfits of today. Creating vintage looks and getting my customers happy with those looks takes a whole lot more!

Anyway, to re-introduce myself to all of you - here is a Pink and Green combo look which is an easily affordable outfit from Zara and one that any of you can Get The Look ( and not just for less!). I love this combination a lot and you will see me play with such colour palettes in upcoming posts. Meanwhile enough said, enjoy my return from sabbatical of blogging and stay tuned for more exciting reels and blog posts coming up.

Always happy to take your enquiries for styling tips so please do drop me an email or a comment below on what you would like to see me style next or perhaps to ask for some styling tips. For those of you based in Singapore, happy to customise a styling session for you too based on your needs and budget so please Click on the tag above that says Personal Styling and we can get going from there once you have completed a Pre-Styling Consult survey.

Have a great Valentine's Day coming up and see you guys again soon.

Love,
Simone xoxo ðŸ’• 💋

Happy weekend everyone.

As it's Hari Raya today or Eid Mubarak, here in Singapore we have a long weekend off. So whilst taking things a little more chill this weekend, thought I would bring you this look which you can be inspired to style as soon as the lockdown is lifted, come 2 June 2020. Ok, I know it will be in stages before we are all free to run about town like as if nothing happened.. yet I am sure you can still trend this if you need to head to somewhere a little more classier or just to cheer you up since things are getting better.

More importantly whatever you do, please do keep this habit going for now at least - to ALWAYS WEAR A MASK! And for those of you having to head back to work, this would be a great chance to get dressed up and masked up fashionably to lift your spirits and mood. This gorgeous mask is from Al.Ma.Lu Boutique which is designed by a gorgeous Italian, Martina who is currently based in Singapore. I fell in love with Martina's elegant and classy patterned masks and was so drawn to it ( I think I have maybe 6 of her masks now in my household). This one even has small coloured crystal stones on it, whilst others have small flowers embroidered on one corner of the masks. Just makes my day wearing them!

The fit and that it does not pull on the ears was perfect for me and why not add more colour to this gorgeous outfit by Love,Bonito with the mask. Statement sleeves is one of my weaknesses and this top I love sooo much as I can wear the sleeves off shoulder or further up on the shoulders to create different feel to the outfit. Of course the yellow accessories of this vintage bag and the Zara heels all adds to complete the look.

Let us not forget that even with wearing a mask, one can always still style statement earrings. I am sure many of you do not bother seeing that the masks will take centrestage or the earrings will get caught up with the loops of the mask, but hey, I am not a " style architect" if I can't tell you - YES, YOU CAN!! And these gorgeous faux pearl earrings is the cutest pair which I can easily flex each branch to suit my look. With all that's happening with the mask and the earrings - I figured a dainty multi pearl necklace from Embrace Jewellery would nicely fit into the whole scene since the neckline is quite low and allows for just 1 more girl to join the party.

Again, of course with mask wearing, many would not consider wearing lip colours out and about and for fear of staining their cloth masks - but a little colour on the lips when you can remove your masks does help. Let's say for a zoom call in the privacy of your home or from your personal office space in the office where you can work without your mask on. That little colour on your lips would definitely perk you up when you are on a call for sure. This stunning shade of Dusty Rose from Amplio Beauty is the most versatile of the colours they have cos it's strong enough to have an impact yet subtle enough to be worn daily.

I know for a fact that A Vintage Tale, Al.Ma.Lu Boutique and Amplio Beauty all offer international shipping, and for those based in Singapore -  free local shipping for some of them. So go check them out and get yourselves geared up ready for the lift of the Circuit Breaker!!

Love,
Simone xoxo

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all keeping safe and staying away from crowds. Do not forget to continue to maintain a high standard of hygiene. It is really scary how quickly this coronavirus has been spreading in just a couple of weeks and now many lives have been lost and many more are ill. This has to STOP!! I dread every morning to read / hear the news with numbers escalating of those infected in our region.

I am sure for those of you based in Asia, you would have seen how quickly our supermarket shelves have been emptied of basic essentials such as toilet paper, rice, tin food...all  in an evening as soon as our health alert signals was raised to an Orange level, red being the next tier and the highest alert.  It is amazing how the panic quickly seeps through the fabric of society. So even for many of us who are confident that we will not need to stock up to that extent, yet when one sees this panic behaviour in the shops, it is very difficult not to succumb to the same fear and anxiety. I guess the fear of not knowing is the worse... not knowing how quick this will escalate to, how long it will stay this way and even worse if we are all put in some form of a lockdown situation soon. Nation by nation, the wave of fear rides through.

I vouch to continue to maintain my day as normal as I could, so I did a quick shoot outdoors at the hottest time of the day ( apparently this virus does not thrive in heat) where there is the least human traffic in one of the back alleys of my neighbourhood, so I can continue to bring you some cheer with an outfit post and also to keep myself busy and not queueing for toilet paper too!!! OMG!!!! I was just short of posing with a mask on - seriously!!

The weather has been quite hot these few days, hence a nice, light off shoulder top was the perfect top to style and I decided to pair it with a knee length skirt to allow myself to have some form of flow and breathing " space" rather than in a tight pair of jeans in this heat. However, it is a good option to mix and match this top with jeans for a variation if you so wish.  I love my beautiful leather, vintage style double buckle belt, from what is now my favourite shoe and accessories brand @The Tui Collection ( they do offer free international shipping you know and there are sales going on as we speak...), and hence cinched the blouse at the waist with this gorgeous item and immediately this casual outfit, had a little extra oomph pumped into it.

Keeping the look casual still, I threw on my favourite pair of lightweight travel shoes from @anothersole which has a bouncy inner sole and keeps my feet so comfy all day. Made of pure leather, the shoes are breathable and moulds right to your foot shape so there is no blisters or calluses but pure comfort when I pair it with my outfits. I can run around all day in it, my perfect go-to casual pair of shoes. I love this metallic rose gold number cos it's so versatile a colour to pair with my outfits and somehow if you know me by now, more is more and therefore the metallic shade against a casual outfit does always make it just that little bit different for me. The best part of it all, this socially conscious boutique supports the underprivileged by donating 10% of their sales proceeds to help kids in these developing countries. So you can shop - guilt free, knowing that you are actually helping a good cause with your credit card!! ( Anything to make oneself feel better!) I assure you, that you will certainly not be disappointed with your first pair!

Meanwhile, if you are stuck at home on Leave of Absence, quarantine or purely just being safe... you can still enjoy shopping from the comfort of your home as many of these stores I have highlighted today are hosting their clearance sales before they launch their Spring/ Summer 2020 collections. So till we meet again, stay safe and shop on!!

Retro Weekend : Embroidered Kimono and Jeans

The Maker's Market

Sin Po Po Brand

Hi everyone and trust you are enjoying your weekend break.

Recently whilst out and about showing my guests around Singapore, we ended up stumbling upon many a vintage boutiques, cafe and stores which made me feel the urge to style an outfit that was somewhat retro to go with the present state of mind I am in.

I love kimonos as they are such a comfortable style of outerwear that one can easily throw in the bag and yet have it handy and ready for cooler temperature places e.g in malls or restaurants that suddenly drop their indoor temperature to at least  5-10 degrees lower than the outside temperature as it is so humid and blazing hot outside. One can never be ready for this sudden change, that's why I like to always carry a shawl or a kimono in my bag for such situations.

This beautiful embroidered piece from ZARA which I got some time back on a sale is so intricate and I love the tassels at the end which adds that extra retro vintage feel to a mass produced item. What better way then to emphasise the whole intricacies of embroidery with this pair of jeans, also from Zara. This was perhaps a piece from couple of years ago but I love how the floral embroidery adds that little bit of femininity and character to a rather boyish, run of the mill pair of jeans.

So pairing these 2 retro inspired items together, I headed off on my scout for cool retro backgrounds to do my photoshoot.

I have always loved Tiong Bahru backstreets and estate for its quaint and vintage vibe and so back to Tiong Bahru I went. First stop was Tian Kee & Co otherwise known as The Maker's Market which was hidden in one of the back alleys but I was so drawn to it's retro styled tables. These metal trays with their flower designs were converted into table tops. These trays were something of days gone by when grandma I recalled used to use them for sunning her dried sambal belachan ( prawn paste cubes) to make her home made chilli sauce or even to sun dry fishes. Well at least that's what I recall her using them for, but I bet many of you would have your own childhood stories of how your grandparents or great grandparents had used these trays for. The ice cream flavours were divine in this cafe and certainly the whole ambience of this cafe definitely felt very retro. The staff was extremely kind to give us many a tasting of ice cream before we even decided to sit down.

Next, I had to head back to my favourite house which I just love the play of black against white in their front entrance. The owners have most certainly restyled the home bearing in mind the preservation of history of the buildings but adding their own modern contemporary twist to their main entrance. I just love it!!

Of course the horse shoe staircases were a must if that does not automatically scream out " Tiong Bahru" to anyone who knows Singapore well enough. And finally on my way home, a drop by to a retro styled cafe called Sin Po Po cafe in Joo Chiat / Katong for some much deserved coffee and cake before heading home.

Hope you enjoyed this retro style weekend post!

Hi everyone.

Hope you had a good long Easter weekend break.

To kick off the week, this was my take on what would be an ideal Easter outfit. A sign of rebirth, new life, I was immediately drawn to this dress calling out my name on the racks of ZARA when I was out recently.

A beautiful 1950s swing dress style, I love the full circle skirt which is so flattering and the V cut front certainly flatters one's décolletage. If you are daring enough to wear this dress loud and proud, bring the collar up to create an even more sexy and dramatic feel to this dress. The cinching of the waist with the black belt that comes with the dress, creates the perfect silhouette of the hour glass figure.

I wanted to keep the look fresh pairing it with nude accessories e.g nude wedges and a statement straw bag. However you can most certainly also up the ante with a black quilted top handle bag or perhaps a cross body or clutch bag as well as black stiletto heels.

Of course with such a loud dress, best to keep one's accessories simple and so keeping with the floral theme, I have styled this look with a simple black flower cocktail ring and black beaded earrings keeping the look toned down and with the main focus on the dress with subtle statement accessories.

I hope you enjoy this look and as this dress is fresh out of Zara's oven - you can still find it in the stores now!

Love,
Simone xoxo

Fly Little Blue Bird, Fly!

Hello everyone, from sunny Florida!

After almost 30 hrs travelling door-to-door and after 3 flight changes, we finally arrived and am slowly adjusting our body clocks. As much as I love travelling to the States and of course being the festive season to see family, however I seriously hate having to overcome jetlag. It's been 5 days now and I am still walking around the house at 3am and feeling ready for bed by 5pm.

I was seriously hoping to start styling warmer and thicker clothing whilst out in Florida, but the weather amazingly is so warm during the day, I might as well be back in Asia. Am waiting for a cold front to hit perhaps sometime next week, so I can style some year end warmer outfits for you.

If you know me well enough, I love bling and so this little blue glitter bird called out to me as soon as I laid my eyes on this winter style chequered shirt. Found this clutch purse in  my mother-in-law's closet and it matched perfectly with my burgundy boots.

Enjoy your last weekend before Christmas shopping some amazing deals and watch this space for more holiday outfits before the year is up.
