Was recently at the funky Mira Moon hotel in Wan Chai, Hong Kong for a nice meal and had to share this relatively new hotel venue with you guys. As part of the Miramar Group chain which has its flagship hotel, The Mira Hong Kong in Kowloon, this quaint but unique and funky hotel is quite an experience for both travellers as well as locals.
Upon entering the hotel, you will notice a very strong chinese influence in terms of decor and setting throughout the hotel. This Chinois Chic decor has it's roots based on a chinese folklore hence it's name " Mira Moon".
You can read this story HERE, and understand a little more the basis for the many " rabbit" figures/ lamps and references you will find around the hotel which I particularly love.
Love the idea of free Vodkha mixers in the room and Nespresso machines as opposed to instant coffee.
As an in-house guest you will also get a free iPad mini to use whilst in HK. A definite handy companion whilst on the go.
My favourite part of the hotel was of course the dining experience! Unique items on the menu included Spring Roll starters that looked exactly like Cuban Cigars....and breakfast Hard Boiled eggs served in what looked like Birds' Nest. Now how cute is that???
My favourite spot in the hotel was the " Secret Garden" where it would be ideal to have a nice cocktail or a crisp glass of Chardonnay under the Umbrella or at the outdoor bar whilst listening to cool lounge music creating that perfect, relaxing ambience after a hard day's work or just spending the night out with the friends.
Not forgetting for those staying in-house, a gorgeous view of the harbour awaits you when you head back to your room ( even from the bathroom), where you can sip champagne whilst relaxing in a warm bath enjoying the HK evening skyline.
For those of you unfamiliar with Hong Kong, Wan Chai where the hotel is located, is just right smack in the hub of the main shopping and eating district on Hong Kong Island. An easy cab ride to Central or a 10 min walk away from Causeway Bay. I certainly hope you will pay this hotel a visit or hopefully choose it as your hotel venue when you next pop into Hong Kong.

It's the weekend again everyone.
Been a long holiday week and was hoping to have more time to blog, but with the boy out of school for a number of days and the internet down at home, I could not do much till today. Was quite frustrating to be honest.
Those of you following the news would know that tensions are running high in Hong Kong with pro democracy protestors. Most people are now starting to get increasingly frustrated having to stay at home so as not to be inconvenienced by the standstill of transportation networks at certain major routes/ areas of Hong Kong and with some shops being closed in those affected areas.
Hence I hope this post would help cheer you up a little. Seeing most people here in HK would be home, getting on the internet to while away their time as going out isn't a good idea at the moment, or simply because its the weekend if you are on the other side of the world, and having a little more personal time to spare. I have decided to throw the first of my GIVEAWAYS of a beautiful Turquoise Fringe Statement Necklace to brighten your weekend. ( Read on for giveaway requirements and terms & conditions.)
Chanced upon an Instagram group that has fun spinning daily looks from an inspirational styleboard, put together by 2 fabulous ladies ( @jro1583 and @aem8168). This outfit was a spin to a look that was pinned on Instagram on 22 September. Tagged #PinnedItSpinnedIt, you will find women styling their daily outfits based on the inspirational pin and putting their personal touches to those looks to make it their own. Very fun....you should try it.
Just to give you an idea - here's the Pin that was put up on 22 September on styling a floral jacket, but since I didn't have one, I spinned it with floral pants instead.
Seeing the weather is slowly cooling down, I had thrown on a lace jacket over a similar lace top for those cooler days. However for those of you in warmer climates, the picture below sans jacket is equally great for warmer weather and a night about town. Just throw on a statement necklace, great heels and you got the perfect look.
Will certainly be sharing more Outfit Spins with you as I continue to play this challenge. For one, you don't have to think too hard about your outfit for the day as you have an inspiration to work with. Isn't that great!!
